What about the Oklahoma shooting? why isn't this getting much press?

Just a bunch of square cornfields and wheat farms,

It is on the front page of CNN and Fox News. I read 2 articles about it that were on the front page of Yahoo.

Celebrity obsession. The media can push causes like helping single moms and the homeless but they'll lose money. If they want to make money today they're running Johnny Depp & Amber Heard stories.

 

I guess his back isn’t a problem now, but seriously…prayers and positive thoughts to the victims. I wish everyone could be rational and kind to others

 

I don't classify media as "main stream".

Besides, we live in a democracy which means, by definition, we always strive to cater to the main stream. Not sure why being "main stream" has a negative connotation.

 

Watching CNN and Foxnews is like Blockbuster video, had a legit reason to exist back in the day but honestly not really now, we get it that CNN is especially slanted only for wokes, dopes, and left leaning types and Fox is the opposite end of that but I would say get rid of it all including msnbc, nbc, etc besides maybe NPR news which sensationalizes absolutely nothing and while left leaning at least has that non hate lavender scented calming effect

 

I’m starting to really abhor any and all media. We just need NPR which is non sensational at the least and let podcasts cater to niche politics. Replace the news with self help programs designed to teach people how to better themselves on topics like work issues, handling money, how to start a business, how to budget, coping with mental stress, etc

 

Great. Now back to reality, we need to shine a light on the techniques that politicians and media alike utilize to manipulate the public. There will always be people with an agenda that try to manipulate others.

Algorithmic coders, cognitive psychologists and linguists, software designers, marketing specialists, etc. spend their careers figuring this stuff out on how to hack the human brain. If you think you haven't been mind-hacked, then you are blissfully unaware. We all have.

If you understand their techniques, you can consume whatever media you want and then "attempt" to minimize the persuasive nature of it all. In the meantime, consume whatever media you want and gloss out whatever information you can. You can learn a lot from stupid people. If you don't understand that, somebody else is learning from you.

 

Maybe because it was the 18th mass shooting since the Uvalde shooting and the second in Oklahoma in a three day period.

 

Up to 20 mass shootings now since Uvalde.

 

1. This is getting press, so to act like it’s barely being talked about is false.

2. Obviously 21 people, including 19 kids, getting killed will get talked about a lot more than 5 dead including the shooter. The police also didn’t wait an hour before doing something

Is this thread supposed to be some slick way of claiming that the media doesn’t care because the shooter was black?

 

I've read about the shooting online at CBS, NBC, and on BBC.com, among others, and heard reporting about it while in my car while listening to the news on NPR. It's being well covered, in my opinion, and the recent mass murder at the grade school in Uvalde by an 18 year old who had just purchased two AR-15 style semi-automatic weapons on "his birthday" was mentioned by every source.

I suggest that you at least consider, in my opinion, broadening your news sources, @tinman. Apparently those you frequent might not be very good at their job if they aren't giving these terrible crimes better coverage. I'll add that there is absolutely nothing amusing about any of this, in my opinion. You seem to be a bit confused about that aspect as it pertains to the murders at the hospital in Tulsa, based on the absurd "poll" you posted. A poll I think the friends and relatives of those killed in Tulsa would find offensive in the extreme.

obviously it’s not up there compared to the TX shooting, c’mon…the TX shooting had 21 dead including 19 kids…

it’s like wondering why we’re not talking about the guy who scored 20 points as much as the guy who just dropped 60

it has nothing to do with Amber Heard
