At the PF position of course. I know we'd become slower, but when you think about it, how much slower could it make this Van Dummy offense. We don't need scoring from our PF position because we have T-mac and Yao for scoring. Yao needs someone to compliment his game by grabbing double digit rebounds and being some what of an enforcer. The finger Wagging scares me. :) And also, we'd have the twin towers factor on defense. I know there will be drawbacks, but nothing else has been working so why not give it a try? As for subbing, they can work in Mo-T while keeping one of the two twin towers in at all times. What do you guys think?

I think the last sentence above is flat out wrong. Scoring from the PF is definitely something we need. Have you seen how many open jumpers the PF's are getting during the game? But they cannot hit them. The reason they're getting them is teams are doubling down on Yao and/or TMac. The PF must be able to hit that open 16 footer in this offense. When the PF is able to do that, Yao may see single coverage and more 25/10 games. Until then, and until the G's can stroke 3's, the offense will be painful to watch. So, no, I don't want a twin towers offense with 2, at times, not very movable objects in at the same time. They'd both be run into the ground by opposing teams.

... and Cato had mobility. I'd almost not mind trying Cato at PF, but Deke? No way.

Taylor used to hit everything last year and can't hit crap anymore...

Juwan and Mo get so many open looks they just can't knock them down and it sucks because thats what they are supposed to do well...they suck rebounding too:eek:

anyone remember Cato trying to hit fallaway jumpers last year? :D

    KNOW YOUR ROLE!:p

It wouldn't work, Deke's footspeed is to slow to keep up with 4.

We need to keep Matumbo healthy so he can be traded for a younger player.

He is the only asset left except for the two untouchables. The right team going for a championship might be willing to let go of a good younger player for him and the trade exception.

unless we ran some crazy 2-1-2 or 3-2 zone we would get killed on D and have a very slow front court. we'd have to run Yao at the high post because Mutombo can't hit shoot.

so I'd have to say no. try to imagine them two trying to run up and down the court at the same time...:D

It's more along the lines of our PFs suck. If they are missing open shots but playing great D, we would still be ok.

I for one wouldn't mind trying Deke+Yao for say 8 minutes a game. Not against shooting PFs of course.

No one would ever guard Yao because Deke provides ZERO offense. Opposing defenses would tee off on Yao for sure.

Starting Deke would be the same as starting a cut out statue of him on the offensive side. He is not going to score and that will let people double other players all the time. He is not mobile enought to start the 4 night and out so that is not going to happen.

He should be starting Spoon in my opinion.

    1) It wouldn't be different than now.

    2) Unlike Mo and JH, Deke will score when he has the ball under basket.

    3) After Yao forces a shot over the double/triple team, Deke is in great position to rebound.

    4) When Deke and Yao are playing together, Yao doesn't have to start the offense. With other people shooting and these two crashing boards, the other team will be forced to give up any fast breaks. Thus, playing our pace.

Not to mention that Deke cant play 25-30 mins every night. He would be drained after a few games if he had to play that many mins.
