Seems like everyone here has come to the conclusion that Snyder is either going to be traded or will be stuck at the end of the bench. I cant recall one post that suggest that he will contribute or even be in the rotation next year. I know ill get bashed for this but IMO with Ming getting some time outside the low block, Snyder will have a chance to shine cutting to the basket. He is one of the few true athletes on this team and I think Adelman will find a way to use that athleticism.

I know he didnt get to show much last year but I beleive he is better than most here give him credit for. So let the "He sucks and will be traded " posts begin.

not sure what he contributes besides his altheticism. he cant really shoot, penetrate, or pass well, but maybe hes an insanely good cutter.

I didn't find his shooting to be that bad, the problem with his outside shooting was his release couldn't possibly be slower. I think he could have been more of a positive given more playtime last season. he's certainly a beast of a human being.

Yea, he sort of seems forgotten. In interviews with the coaching staff, Steve Novak always comes up. It seems like he is currently higher up in the pecking order because of his shooting ability. I agree that Snyder's ability to cut to the basket and finish strongly would be an asset to us.

    Good thread.

I agree with you Possum that Snyder is a forgotten player that could be a good asset to us next year. He is quick, extremely athletic, and can get to the basket and finish. JVG didn't see much use for him. Lets see what Adleman has in mind if we decide to keep him.

Hopefully Snyder will be able contribute next year. It is going to be a contract year for him and he couldn't be playing for a better coach\system that will maximize his talents ie cutting and slashing not spotting up at the 3 so we have to watch his terrible release.

snyder was pretty good and should be able to help the rockets, he just didnt play much last season cause he hurt his hand and couldnt play... i bet he would have got more playing time if he wouldnt have gone out early like that

MOREY: Yes, indeed, this is still one of our plans. We plan to bring him back and make better use of his strength in slashing and penetrating. Even though we have Aaron Brooks now, I have to say abilitiy wise, Billy's penetration is up to par as Tracy McGrady and Kirk Snyder. That is why we hope to bring him back.

This was from the interview that pryuen posted. He says VSpan's penetrating ability is up there with McGrady and Snyder and thus, they want VSpan back. If they want VSpan back for this reason then they probably want Snyder back as the 2/3 is less crowded than the 1 (especially if Head is traded).

I like Snyder. I could live with him being traded, but I would like to see him be used if he stays.

With Snyder's ability to cut to the basket and finish with authority, I think he has a chance to really flourish in Adelman's system. He's obviously not untradeable, but I think he can carve out a nice niche. With Bonzi and McGrady probably spending some time on the IR, Snyder is a nice fall back, too.

I think Snyder is a very serviceable 2nd team player on the floor with Rafer and Chuck for about 20 minutes a night. I like his post up abilities and finishing around the rim. I would like to seem him get some of Shane's minutes at the 3.

I like the 2nd lineup of
    Bonzi
    Snyder
    Brooks
    Novak/Landry
Motumbo (once again we're playing 4 on 5 offense)

Agree with you Possum. Synder is a slasher who was seldom used under Van Gundy. The penetrating -breaking down of a defense is my favorite form of basketball-ala Clyde or Max (someone should show Kenny Smith video of this)

I hope Adelman will utilize Synder. He can play and I hope he stays healthy

He is better than we give him credit for. Most people already forgot that he was a starter before he got injured last season. JVG did see his talent but kirk didnt bounce back from his injury to be a starter again.

Snyder is definitely staying. His shooting will not be a problem under Adelman's offense because his duty is going to be driving straight to the basketball and do a Von Wafer Slam or kick the ball out to shooters

I didn't like what I saw of Snyder as a Rock. However, systems do affect a player's performance and there is a decidedly new system, and thus yet another new start for KS.

No, I don't believe he is tradable as his contract is a lot for his past performance. So, here's hoping he fits well into Adel's wise system.

If he isn't any better than he was last season, Snyder may find playing time hard to come by if Bonzi returns to form. We are loaded at the 2/3 swing position with Tracy, Shane and Bonzi. I suppose Shane could slide over to the 4 sometimes. But Mike James can play the 2 opposite Rafer or Aaron Brooks (if he makes an impact).

I wouldn't be surprised if Snyder is traded before or during the season.

Snyder started with thr rockets before injury, started one point with Jazz, started with the Hornets and he is only 23 years old. Everyone talks about him being a good athlete, but Snyder also handles the ball extremly well were he could possibly play some point forward. Snyder is a good defender and could be a poor man Scottie Pippen. Snyder form is horrible on his shot so is his release, that needs work. Not sure about work ethic.

I agree, I didn't think he was a horrible shooter. And his release may take a long time but if you look at Steven Jackson in Golden State, he has a very slow release as well...he still gets his 3's.

snyder really dissapointed as a defender last year. he's got all the tools to be a lockdown defender in the nba but he lacks the brain and the desire. but his weak defense was the cause he never made the rotation again after his injury.

under adelman snyder probably will get another chance if he's not traded. he's a premier athlete and he can give you a little slashing and cutting ability off the bench. the problem is that besides his athletic ability he's got no other area where he's better than average.
