    Charlotte gets: trade exception

Denver get: Brad Miller, maybe future pick or TMass

Rockets get: Raef LaFrenz and maybe some unwanted filler

Why Charlotte does the trade: They've already said they want to trade Brad Miller to a team with the exception

Why Denver would do the deal: They've already recognized LaFrenz can't play center, and they're tired of having their franchise player McDyess guard bigger guys. Getting a bigger, stronger real center like Brad Miller has been their top priority this offseason. They're not satisfied their draft picks can do the job, and they're interested in Brad Miller.

Why the Rockets do the trade: LaFrenz is just about the perfect power forward for us - 3pt. range, 2 blocks a game, you know he'd fit in great with the Rockets

Why this trade probably wouldn't happen: If the Nuggets really were willing to trade LaFrenz for a big man, why wouldn't they have traded him to the Rockets for Pryzbilla?

I agree with Det. Unless we guaranteed Denver our own pick in the 01, it doesn't even have a chance. Even then, it's still not a sure bet type of deal.

When did this happen? In LaFrenz and McDyess, Denver looks to have the best young frontcourt tandem in the NBA, and they hope to build upon it. He's very athletic, an excellent shotblocker, and he can drive/shoot the jumper.

    This deal probably won't happen.

While I agree the deal probably wouldn't happen, it's no secret that the Nuggets aren't satisfied with LaFrenz at center. Apparently, LaFrenz was not strong enough to guard the bigger centers, and McDyess, whose not that beefy himself, had to bang against much bigger guys. The Nuggets traded into the draft hoping to get Magloire, but he was already taken. While they did get N'Diaye and McClintock in the draft, the Nuggets don't think they're necessarily the answer and have still pursued some of the free agent big bodies, including the best among them, Brad Miller. I'm not a Nugz expert or anything, but this is stuff I've read on all the usual web sites, so you know their credibility. This deal probably has like no chance of happening, but it's still a lot more likely than getting Van Horn for the exception or some of the other deals being thrown out there as possibilities.

    Oakdogg,

Your missing the whole point of why charlotte needs the trade exception! The only reason they need more cap room is for the trade they are trying to work out between Miami, involving Eddie. They need our exception (or indiana's) to get a better deal out of Eddie leaving!! Thats the reason they are willing to give up brad miller and others. So they can get someone like jamal mashburn from Miami

You could probably get LaFrenz but I doubt you could get LaFrentz.

Raef LaFrenz would be a perfect fit for the Rockets, imo. He is aggressive, plays D, and can hit 3s. Unfortunately, I don't see Denver parting with Raef, a very important part of the Nugget's future.

Cato, LaFrenz, Langhi, Cat, and Steve would be a wonderful core group of players to add solid free agents to in the quest for another title. I don't see it happening though.

I would really like that trade. But I do not think it is realistic.

Hey, it's not my fault you don't know his name but really, the Rockets have a better shot at signing Ralph Fiennes to play center than getting the other Raef from Denver for a mediocre center like Brad Miller. I'd love to see LaFrentz in Houston but we'd have to offer up more than Brad Miller as bait.

How about Brad Miller and Eddie Robinson or Ricky Davis? Charlotte would never do that though.

Expert-And Shandon. Do not forget Shandon, as he will be absolutely necessary.

Timing-You bring up another point. Ricky Davis wants out of Charlotte.

I'll take Christian Laetner over La Frentz. He'll fit better in the Rockets system.

Laettner? Are you serious? He couldn't guard Elvis Presley (and he hasn't moved since 1977.)
