I know this was a hotly contested debate over the summer when it looked as though we would possibly work out a S&T with Seattle. Ultimately, the deal breaker seemed to be that we weren't giving up Griff in a deal for Shard. Given that we now know that Yao is the real deal, KT can produce if need be along side Yao and that Griff (as much as I love him and think he will be a star) isn't going to be a difference maker in whether or not we make the playoffs, would you make a deal for Shard if Grif was involved? I am aware that Rashard cant be traded for a certain amt of time since he just signed and also that given his new salary, we would have to throw in more than just Griff (possibly Cato). I was one of the ones who said "NO F****** WAY to giving up Griffin in a deal for Rashard, but I'd have to say, I think I might be willing to do it now.
I don't think Rashard is a good fit for this team, he is a guy with a me-first attitude, I don't think he can handle being the fourth option after Franchise, Ming, and Cat. And if you're gonna make him the 3rd option, I'm pretty sure Cat would sulk about it, and screw up team chemistry. I like the team right now, let them develop together and play with each other before doing anything.
no way. i want to see Griffin grow as a player, and it wil take time but he will be our starting power forward. Rashard wants too much money too soon
Both very nice players but once eddie gets it together. Yao and Eddie will be blocking a ton of shots. Its going to take him time but I think he will be worth it. Shard is nice but could not handle being the 3rd option. And we cant ask Cat for yet another player to take some of his shots away from him.
Rashard became a solid player during his 3rd season with seattle. Eddie is still young and has lots of room to improve. He is going to be a stud defender alongside Yao. I will stick with him.
Once Rudy and Griffin get on the same page we are going to be scary. The little success that we have had should not spark a movement to try and win it all now (either by fans or management). Griffin has made strides from last season to this one and there is no reason to believe he will not continue to do so (the guy is only 20). I hope next year Griffin will have done the requisite work for him to become a 4 that can play physically alongside Ming. If Griffin does progress to where the coaching staff believes he can, we will be a nightmare for the NBA.
I'm still of the opinion that Eddie is untouchable and that KT is better suited to play the 3. Therefore, I would not do that deal. I love Eddie's defense and shot blocking and believe that he and Yao will be huge defensive factors in the playoffs As stated above, I look forward to the day that KT takes over full time at the 3 with Eddie and MoT handling the 4. Long range shooting can come from the bench in the form or Rice or Boki.
How very true. Exactly what I'm thinking except that I don't think KT at the 3 will work.. in fact, it hasn't worked. I would much rather TMo take over full time at the 3. But EG is untouchable for now.
While MoT is still sucking that hind tit... While we don't know what we have in EG... No, I wouldn't do that trade. Although I would love to have the homeboy Shard here, and I believe the forward slots need to be solidified, especially since the Rice is cooked and stodgy.... If you had to make an eventual trade, I'd look East so as not to help the Sonics make the playoffs. I have nothing against the Sonics....except for ETERNAL HEARTBREAK in the playoffs during the pre-championship years (and would we have won those championships if we had met the Sonics in the playoffs?)
Nope. I still like EG. He will grow into his own. We cannot have three players making the max, and expecting the ball all the time.
Griff had a nice stroke (jump shot) flowing last night, sorta reminiscent of R. Horry. EG's shot is too flat, ole slew foot Robert Horry has a nice form on his shot. ~ kountzer ~
I do not understand how EG has not developed his dribble skill. Is that so hard to learn? By the way, shot-blocking ability is important but not as important as good defensive skills and rebounding. There are two weaknesses on this Rox team: 1. A defensive stopper who can stop other teams' SG or SF, the Kobe, T-mac, PP, Carter type, Mobley is not tall and strong enough. Rice can not do it at his age. Can Hawkins do it? 2. A PF who can stop or even other teams' PF, the C-Webber (who dropped 30 on the Rox), Duncan, Wallace, Malone, Nowitiz-type. If the Rox can fix these two weaknesses, Rox is a championship team.
I wouldnt trade Lewis for Griffin. This team finally seems to be developing some chemistry. If they keep meshing and developing like this, they are going to be a force to be reckond with.
