I know his name has been mentioned around here many times before, but now he is getting into with his teammates. It was reported that he even got into a shouting match with Marbury recently. He can defend and rebound much better than any forward we currently have and can still hit the mid-range shot (ala Howard). He could bring some extra toughness inside that we have been lacking all year. I wouldn't trade for him unless Howard is the one being shipped to NY because, if we were to trade Taylor for him, we would be left with two PFs (Howard & Thomas) with 4 years left on their contracts and both on the wrong side of 30 yrs. old. Maybe: Howard/2nd rounder for Thomas/cash (to help pay for his trade kicker)? Thoughts?
There have been trade rumors surrounding Thomas for a few years now, and yet, he is still a Knick. Tells me one of two things: 1) The rumors are false and NY covets Thomas as a player or 2) NY has been taking offers but has rejected every single one thus far. Either way, NY laughs if you offer them Howard (or Mo) + a 2nd rounder for Thomas.
Here's the details: http://slamonline.com/links/01312005 "We have it from someone who should know that the barely reported verbal tiff between Steph and Kurt Thomas on the Knicks bench during a timeout Friday night went down something like this. It started apparently because Kurt was pissed off at Steph for either dribbling too much or taking a bad shot on a recent possession, and saying so to Steph. Steph: "F**k you man." Kurt: "F**k YOU. Everyone in this organization is afraid of you, but I'm not, and I will beat your a**." And then they had to be separated like they were Roy Williams and Khalid. Your move, Isiah."
Heh, thats great. Howard has been playing well and is hitting his shots lately but I think Kurt Thomas would be the ideal power forward for us. He is a tough, rugged rebounder and defender that can hit the open 15-footer with consistency. I don't know anything about contracts but lets send Mo Taylor, Juwan and a second-rounder for him, he is well worth it. Stuart
That would be a dream come true if we could get rid of MO and HO for him, and then only have to give up a second rounder with it. I guess we can all dream. I've wanted this guy on the Rox for a long time, but I don't think we have anything to offer. If we were somehow able to make a deal it would have to include at least 1 first rounder and a good player (since we can't trade TMac or Yao that's out of the question), or an expiring contract. The only way they'd take the expiring contract would be if Kurt was giving them problems. Now lets take this thread and lock it away with the other 100 or so Kurt Thomas trade threads. Pugs
