Do any of you guys think that Yao could play alongside Cato in the post? Could Cato guard today's more agile power forwards?

I would like to see us rebound more and force opposing teams to shoot more jumpers. I do see one downside with starting Cato and Yao: no perimeter defense. Any other pros/cons that you guys can see?

who ever said that newbies don't attack veterans on this bbs for a redundant thread.

But knowing P1stS2nd, he can ignore the newbie, and push on with a conversation.

Show 'em how to not take offense, my man.

btw: we would need a sweet shooting SF to allow Cato on the floor. Can't match two bad shooters on the floor together.

I'm tempted to trade Eddie for a real 3rd guard and test Cato as a backup at dual positions. but that requires a cant' miss EG trade to begin with.

    Another problem is fouls.

Opposing teams will switch the pf on Yao and drive on him. Yao has to be pretty agile to avoid getting the tick tack or the not-block. Now, personally, I'd love to see him just rise up and whack somebody into next year. Well worth the foul. But can't do that too much yet. I don't know if Yao knows any dirty tricks like hooking or the knife and fork, yet.

Cato can bang away. That's why he'd be in there. The meaner the better. He can body up pretty good. Let Yao bring the weakside help.

In limited use, it's a good option. They'd need to work it in practice a bit, and each learn where they're going to be. When they ran it some last year, it looked like they didn't know who to play or where to go.

It would be fun to see Steve/Cato decoy the oop, and hit Yao for the sweet open 12 footer. ;).

Also, on offense, they're going to front Yao, and give Cato the ball all day. Mr. oven mitts would have trouble subbing as the ball distributor, and is no threat with the j. Not that EG is all world, either. It's a problem when your 4s can't pass or shoot. Cato and EG are going to have to learn how to give it up to cutters, or hit a fading Yao, or kick out. They're not going to bull their way in consistantly.

    that's not their decision...pasox2.

The defensive team gets to set the assignments, not the other way around.

So Yao is the Green Hornet now?

I just think this would clog up the inside on the offensive end.
There would be few easy layups at the other end, though.

name a PF banger who we could get where this wouldn't apply.

Wouldn't you love to have PJ Brown, if we could afford him. How about Wallace?

You have to make up your mind: either you want a banger backup PF or not. If you make Cato that guy, you play Yao for those limited minutes in the high post, which easily negates their ability to front him.

    ???

how are they gonna make yao guard the pf? we get to choose who yao guards. unless they are running the vaunted pf/c pick and roll, i don't see how they will isolate a pf on yao.

    what does that mean?

    1. yao and cato won't be able to play perimeter defense b/c they can't move? in which case, how many pf/c's are gonna make them play perimeter D, and we would probably only do it for certain matchups.

    2. the guards/small forward won't play perimeter D b/c they have too good shot blockers behind them? in which case, why would that happen.

    3. it's a typo of some sort. in which case, what did you mean to type.

1 and 2 don't seem to make any sense.

How about we start a new thread for whiners like you who litter up threads b****en about them.

Some people have lives and don't have time to read every post.

A few points of advice for you if you are tired of reading about a scenario then move on to the next one. What this board really neds is for people like you to quit littering up threads with holyer than thow post like this one.

Other than that let the moderaters do their jobs and have a nice day. :p
