last i heard prior to the release of Episode 1, George said he was not going to do them himself. he did say something to the effect that he would write the outline for the script and possible give someone else permission to do the production like Steven Speilberg or somebody younger. has anybody heard lastest rumours or facts concerning the sequels???
Right now Lucas is 58. Episode 3 comes out in three or four years. That makes him about 62. He will then spend some time adding scenes and 'touching up' the original trilogy for the DVD release. Say that takes a year or two. Let's say he's 64 by the time he has finished 6 episodes. I doubt we will see more Star Wars movies after episode 3. There are some really good books which take place before and after the 6 movies. But according to George, if it didn't happen in the movie, then it didn't happen at all.
