i was thinking what if vin baker is release would you sing him for a mid level exeption and some three years contract

he is a good power foward and are taking a second breath around the league i don't know much about him on defense.

but i think that would bring some deep to our roster

We've already been burned once by a PF with problems. I think there are other players who could help us better.

Walker, on the other hand, is a player I'd take a gamble on. Dallas probably won't let him go now except for a premium, but he's got skill sets more appropriate for us than Baker.

Vin Baker? Hasn't he been in rehab for the last few years of his career? Maybe we should go after a normal PF.

Walker has no defense...meaning no weak side support for Yao.

Sure...while we're at it, let's give Eddie Griffin a chance...

What's Lewis Lloyd up to these days?

IMO is not the same situation of eddie griffin well at least he don't shot some one and he's in reahb

"As stated previously by my representatives, I have and continue to do everything that is required of me to remain in compliance with my after-care program and eagerly await being officially reinstated to play," said Baker in a statement released last night. "I am surprised and disappointed that I have not been cleared to play as of today, but remain optimistic knowing that I have gone above and beyond what has been asked of me during my absence. My representatives have and will continue to communicate with team officials on my behalf, until I am reinstated."

Hmmm? Hell No! Why in the world would we want a drunken power forward past his prime when Cato is a better defender and Taylor is a better scorer? How could that possibly be good for team chemistry?

Baker? Rox can do better than that... Baker wouldn't survive in the West.

It's a damn shame what happened to Vin Baker, he was a really good PF, before his problems.

i think he could be a good adition and he has been an all star

im not saying trade him for maurice or even cato

sing him for one or two years he play pretty good with the seattle and his a team player he made some pick and rolls and can make the outside shot with consistence

No way in heck should the Rockets consider putting Vin Baker on this team. If he can't get his act together in Boston, then he sure as hell won't anywhere else. Currently he is suspended...indefinitely.

Yeah he was a decent player from 1997-2002, but I think you left off an entire NBA season on Baker's stats.....

    2002-2003 - 52 18.1 1.9 4.0 47.8 0.0 0.1 0.0 1.4 2.1 67.3 1.7 2.1 3.8 0.6 1.2 0.4 0.6 2.8 5.2

He goes from scoring 14 points per game to 5?? Yuck.

I wouldn't be against it if we're talking about a 1 year deal followed by a team option for a small amount of money and/or with extra protections to keep the contract from becoming guaranteed. He has an alcohol problem but seems to have his head on straight otherwise. If you can keep the risk low, the potential reward is worth the trouble.

He is on waiver now, we should sign him.
How big of a gamble can it be?
He had a very solid 1st half of the season, and he loses all the weight in the summer... I think he is serious about trying to make a comeback.
Without the big contract, I think it's worth giving him another chance.
