Wouldn't he be a nice compliment to AJ? http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=rotowire-ntonioryanteavinglev&prov=rotowire&type=lgns Antonio Bryant: Leaving Cleveland Monday, February 13, 2006 Update: The Browns will not re-sign Bryant, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Recommendation: Bryant was only the fifth Browns receiver to have a 1,000-yard season. He had 69 catches and four touchdowns. Bryant, acquired in a trade with Dallas for receiver Quincy Morgan in mid-2004, was a bargain for the club. He made $455,000 in 2005, the last year of his original, four-year contract. Bryant will be an unrestricted free agent on March 3. We will continue to monitor this situation.
I think he would be a good fit. He definitely has the talent. His attitude is an issue - but not as much of one if he has a starting gig, which he is pretty much guaranteed in Houston. Let's see - starting wr talent - for somewhat of a cheaper contract than his talent would suggest(attitude and crappy team situations would keep him from getting Reggie Wayne type moolah) Exactly the kind of guy the texans need. No more Corey Bradford. No gambling on a rookie making the transition.
Agreed, but I think with the right coaching, and the need to not have Corey here, would be awesome...
Bryant has had attitude issues whereever he's been. If he's cheap, then take a flyer, otherwise I'd pass. Good news is that his main issue in the past with Dallas and later Cleveland, was the lack of touches. As the #2 guy in a Kubiak offense, he might get about 50-60 catches a year.
being a dallas fan, i know first hand how much talent he has. and that's a ton. he has pro bowl ability but his attitude wears thin on his teammates and coaches, such an enigma.
no. if parcells can't get a handle on the guy, there aren't going to be too many who can. this is the same guy who can get guys like keyshawn johnson and terry glenn to fall in line.
Different personalities for different people. Parcells strikes me as the kind of guy who has one way for doing something and if that doesn't mesh, you're gone. The 2 guys you mentioned may have just been the type of personalities which dominated weaker personalities but got in line quickly when confronting a coach like Parcells.
you kind of prove my point. parcells is a guy who does have HIS way of doing things, but HIS way of doing things is the way it should be done. he does have 2 superbowl rings and is one of the best coaches in the history of the game. if you aren't going to listen to him and respect him, you deserve to be cut. that means you don't care about winning and don't have what it takes to be a team player. if he has a stronger personality than parcells and doesn't care about what parcells says, what do you think he'll do to kubiak???? and i kinda like bryant because he is so talented and i think he could have been an excellent #1 or #2 option in dallas but he didn't want to do things bill's way and he's gone. he probably doesn't have what it takes to be a champion or a team player, and that's sad because he is so talented.
He has Pro Bowl calibur talent and his attitude issues are overrated. He's definitely worth taking a flyer on. I've liked this guy ever since watching him play at Pitt. Sure, he tested my patience a bit with his baseless claims of no Steelers defensive back being able to cover him, despite getting the same Ike Taylor treatment that held Chad Johnson scoreless in three contests. Still love the guy though.....
you will not find a bigger bryant supporter than me, but his attitude issues are not overrated. there is more than just him throwing a jersey in bill parcells face, there are some SERIOUS attitude issues with bryant. and i love his game and his talent but he has issues that are legit, and the texans should stay away from him if they don't want "knuckleheads" as JVG calls them on their team.
I don't remember hearing anything about bad about Bryant after he was traded to Cleveland. Did I miss something?
I'd rather have the player with an attitude who works hard and brings it every game as opposed to the player with a bad attitude who goes out and gets arrested every month. Bryant is just cocky. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it's not. He's got the talent to back up his mouth if somebody ever gives him a chance. << nudge, nudge >>
you can look at it that way, sure. but following him closely. the team getting him is going to have to back down to all of his demands for him to be happy. he wants to be a star. and definitely has the talent to be one. but the problem is, most teams already have stars, and he doesn't want to EARN that right through just shutting up and playing hard to earn that status. he wants all the attention, right off the bat. he doesn't understand that regardless of talent and ability you have to go out and earn it first before demanding special treatment or consideration.
