What about a SNT for Flip Murray?

Perhaps with the Sonics now becoming unglued, losing McMillan, James, Daniels, and maybe Evans and/or VR, could we swing a SNT for Flip Murray? Maybe for Wesley and/or Sura, an expiring contract or two, a 2nd round pick, etc... I'd rather have Murray starting for us at the 2 anyday over Wesley, Sura, Barry or Glover. I understand that Bonzi will be a part of a SNT very soon (I'm thinking Dallas), and at 8M per, he's not worth it. Then there's Spree and Finley. Spree I think would do more harm than good by season's end, but all that offense on the floor at the same time would be pretty scary... And Finley, we can't afford to wait till October for him to get cut, plus it looks like Phoenix became the frontrunner there with Nash wooing him. What do you guys think about Flip as a role player for us? What's his current FA status? Salary requirements?

    Thanks

I think he's Sam Mack reincarnate. He could fill it up when Allen was out, but why did he disappear with Allen back?

i don't like it at all. that guy refuses to play defense and he is a poor outside shooter. i don't want a guy like that on our team.

    :)
He's washed up. His days are long gone now.

He would be a great fit in the NBDL. :)

I would LOVE Flip Murray on the team. I think he's someone ready to bust out, like Michael Redd did. In all my prognosticating for this summer, I hoped we'd obtain him somehow.

My primary concern, though, is that JVG knows exactly how he wants to build this team, and I think he wants a 2 that is a defensive stopper of the other teams best scorer, like Wesley is, and Murray isn't. I'm not sure he's what JVG is looking for. So far, JVG has done a good job assembling his pieces with what we've got, and I'm pretty impressed, so I'll have to trust him on this one, and I don't see the Rockets saying or doing anything that gives an indication they are interested in him.

But, I believe he will bust out, once he gets out of the shadow of Allen, and will be a huge assett to any team who has him ... if we could trade for him while he has low trade value, if nothing else, he would be a huge trading commodity for a player we ultimately want. We need young budding players to go with Yao and TMac, like Swift is, at good prices.

I love this idea. Get flip on this team to play with Tmac.

I'd rather take Damien Wilkins away from the Sonics. Much taller, a much better defender, and is more capable of playing effectively without the ball in his hands.

At 6'3 is Flip Murray going to offer us anything that we can't get from James, Wesley, or Head.

I didn't realize he was that short and his defense was that poor, but I still believe he is an upgrade at the 2 over our "current" roster.

Flip is unique. I think he is the best in the NBA outside of Iverson at breaking his defender or 2 or 3 defenders down on the dribble. He's unstoppable at the top on the dribble penetration. To me, he represents a significant upgrade over MJ if we need somebody that can create for themself. All that being said, he can't stop nobody and I don't think his game fits with us except as dynamite O off the bench, which is the role that MJ is in now. I'd take him and Damien in S&Ts with Seattle for MJ and somebody else.

That's what I think too. He's your high energy guy; 6th man off the bench; instant offense.

Didn't we just draft Luther Head? How many ******* combo guards do we need anyway?

EDIT: Nevermind. Thought you were talking about Lamond Murray.

It would be awesome to get Flip here. But where would he fit on this team?

I was going to say! Flip ain't that old... He'd compete for the starting 2 in a heartbeat, can't say our recent signee Swift is much of a defensive juggarnaut right now either, but under JVG, who knows... ;) I mean does Bonzi or Finley play that much better D? I'm not so sure...

it's called minutes. NO ONE can put up 16 ppg in like 15 minutes. i like flip but he really isn't much of an upgrade from what we have. he runs about 6'3 or 6'4 and doesn't really have a defined position. i think we already have enough of those type of players already at guard.

This is what makes me pretty sure we're gonna wind up with Spreewell.
