Remember the Excitement of Preseason... I was watching the highlights of this preseason game and it occurred to me how excited I was about players like Vassillis, Novak and Snyder contributing to the Rockets future. I thought they would start off slow but by seasons end they would all be contributing to our championship run. Man, was I wrong.
I can't help but to think back to a year ago as well. Going into the season, we needed a starting pf, starting sg, and a 3rd scorer. And now we are back to square one. I'm still a little optimistic wrt Novak and spanny, but even if they pan out they are likely backups. We already have 2 backups starting.
Remember when Rudy got really excited about a player from a good preseason? All of Kelvin Cato's children are very thankful for that.
You know what's fun to watch there.. is how well they moved up the court quickly. I think if/when Novak and V-span get a chance to show RA what they can do they will be getting at least a few minutes on the court next season. And I have no doubt Snyder will be utilized more. I think he would have gotten more time this season if not for his injury. He has athletic ability and it sounds like he wants to work to improve. I wish I was a fly on the wall when RA starts looking at tapes of these guys to hear what he has to say about them.
Relax Rookie I am not trying to bash your man. In fact congratulations are in order. I thought he did a great job announcing the game last night.
I still have high hopes for next year.....sometimes you got to take your medicine to become healthy. Now that the year of Chemotherapy is done, we can explode. DD
Not everything people post has to do with your personal agenda. I'm just recalling what happened in years past.
i almost forgot about novak's sweet stroke, thanks for the video. time passes by quickly. too bad, novak couldn't pan out in jvg's system. hopefully novak, and snyder would stay. i like those group of guys, willing to do work. vspan complained, but i understand him. he came from a different culture. he probaly recieved lots of stress from other things, with the no playing time. i'm pretty sure he regrets it now, and will come back. i'm just guessing, all this, but hopefully he comes back, cause he gives us tight defense and good penetration. also, since its his 2nd year, he'll might be used to the change, from international to here. took him a while, but who cares.
true, but its important we have projects. look at the spurs, look who ginoblie turned into. also phillie, without iggy, they would be worse than grizzlie or boston. i would not trade them if rick can turn them to a good rotaional player or better. also their contract are small, we can't get anyone pretty decent for around 2.4 mill. i rather keep them until the trade deadline, and see if rick can develop them, for more trade value, or actualy help us.
The Rockets are too since they packaged Cato and his outrageous, untradeable 7mil/yr salary for McGrady.
As with you. Only this time my only agenda was to point out how positive a lot of us were going into to the season and how it didn't turn out as expected. What was yours?
I read about high preseason expectations, and was reminded of a similar incident in the past. Simply pointing out we've heard this song before. Hell, it's not even just this team... when Lampe was with the Hornets, he once had 23 points and 12 rebounds in preseason against the Spurs... I picked him up for my fantasy team, and he did squat.
Wow, their foresight was incredible!!! Wonder if we could steal that crystal ball from him - we may be on the cusp of acquiring Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett!
We predicted that this was 50-55 win teams with both Yao and Tmac healthy. Turned out Yao and Tmac went down at different times, and Yao was out for 3 months. We still finished with 52 wins. We were two zip over Utah and one rebound away from advancing in game 7 at home. All and all, this wasnt that bad a year. The team as whole is a top 6 team in the league, better than Cavs in a 7 game series. But it's a failure in the sports that a team doesnt go all the way, and like JVG said there is no momentum build years in NBA. Am I disappointed, yes, but I am sure the other 29 teams' fans feel the same, especially the suns', heats, the dallas's
Hope springs eternal for Rocket fans. I agree- I am looking forward to summer league &pre-season, and off season moves... Go Rockets- looking good from here....
