Well, big Joel was at Westside today as was Morris Peterson. The brass was quite impressed with Joel Pryzbilla saying he looks to really move up. Morris was just the opposite...he really is a tweener. He's just not big enough to play the three. Doesn't look to be in the plans for the Rox.. but Joel P was impressive....

Remember, he is 7'1" and can block 'em!! Plus, he's got a ceiling. Is he ready for the big time yet?? Probably not, BUT are the Rockets?? Nope! We have to stay focused on the big pic, we're playing for the future and, if we play these cards right, we're going to be there for a long time!!! The future is really bright...( The Sermon is now complete!! )

Good point. We've got what we need (a potential best-player-in-the-league), while so many other teams who think they're on the up-and-up don't have. I have no idea who Joel P. is, but he sounds pretty damn good to me. We're so far ahead of the game right now it's not even funny. Hope everybody realizes that.

Hey Doc! Thanks for posting ... As usual, I have a few questions.

[*] Now that the Rockets know how the draft lines up, who do the Rockets think will most probably fall to #9? Prysbilla, Miles, Miller, Alexander, Moiso ...

[*] Do they think Chicago will take Miles and Pryzbilla, or think they'll trade one of the picks, and how would that affect us?

[*] Do they think there are there any possibilities of trade with the top three teams for Swift, especially since Swift says he might not come out if he has to go to LAC?

[*] Would we trade up to get Miles?

[*] Also, do you know if the Rockets are interested in trading/sign and trades/FA's for any other players outside of the draft, such as Antonio McDeyss, Jermaine Oneal, or Rashard Lewis, besides your earlier comments about Jerome Williams, Webber and Kandi?

[*] Earlier, you mentioned we'd probably trade Cato. Who would the Rockets look to replace Dream, besides somehow getting Webber?
[/list=a]
Thanks again for your insider's insight!

***********
I don't think Pryzbilla will fall. If Chicago doesn't get Mihm, I think they go Joel P. Miles' stock is shooting through the roof. Personally, I'd take Moiso over Courtney Alexander. We'll resign Mobley and he's better than any guard in the draft without question.
**************

Do they think Chicago will take Miles and Pryzbilla, and where would that leave us?

**********
Up Sh!+ creek, Number 9 falls right at that " Crap, I don't want him!! " selection, ya know? We need to make a move. If Cato's bustin' his tale, I'd get a big man! We've GOT to get bigger and more defensive!!
***********

Do they think there are there any possibilities of trade with the top three teams for Swift? If Swift won't come out to LAC, would they trade the pick?

**************
I think there's a great chance of us making a move up. There are really so many scenarios, no one really knows yet. I say, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE CLIPPERS!!
***************

Would we trade up to get Miles?

************
Maybe, but I don't think we'd move Cato for Miles. Maybe Kenny but not KC.
************

Also, do you know if the Rockets are interested in trading for any other players outside of the draft, such as Antonio McDeyss, Jermaine Oneal, besides your earlier comments about Jerome Williams, Webber and Kandi?

*************
As of now, I've heard virtually nothing. I just can't speculate with any accuracy.
*************

Earlier, you mentioned we'd probably trade Cato. Who would the Rockets look to replace Dream, besides somehow getting Webber?

*************
Good question, all I do know is that Webber will be pursued if everything goes the way it looks. That won't be until next year though.

Thx for the info Doc Rock.

I didnt think Mo Pete was a good fit for this team. Need-wise anyways.

PrissyBillah eh? Interesting. Could always use some more 7 footers, especially if Cato is on the outs. Hope the Rockets dont waste this pick on an untalented big man tho(see Bryant Reeves), that would be scary. Was there any other standouts?

Cato is 7 feet tall.

Doc Rocket -- thanks for the great scoop.... I've been wondering how the workouts went.

It's good for me to hear the workout with Przybilla went well.... perhaps I'm wrong but I'd like to see the guy go before us. If Iakovos Tsakalidis goes before us I'm in love too (though that is doubtful).... I just hope we're not stuck with Courtney Alexander as one of the main highlights left. For me if Mihm, Martin, Swift, Fizer, Miles and Miller go in the first 6 I'm hating it..... I'm hoping Miller or Miles will slip through the cracks 3-4 spots.

I'm just not down with picking a great white hope sort of player (pryzbilla). I know we wouldnt be expecting that much, but if you ask me, we wouldnt be getting much either. I may be wrong and he may turn up ok, but I cant really see him ever being better than someone like Raef La Frenzt and while good, Raef La Frenzt just doesnt get me going. Id even prefer a Courtney Alexander, hope he ends up good, have another crappy season, get a good draft pick next year, have money under tha cap room, and an extra guard to make a move with...........but thats just me!

Doc: What do you think it would take to move up into the Top-3 and make a move for Stromile Swift, and do you think the Rockets would be willing to move that much for one player?

With Chicago out of the top 3 now, I see it highly unlikely, but IMHO, no matter what it takes (outside of Anderson, Mobley, Francis), I make the move. There is the argument of, "who will play center with Cato gone?" I say, "screw it." We won't be competing anytime soon, so I feel it would be best to focus on bringing in the last franchise player rather than worrying about filling holes on a lottery team. Get your star player, and fill the roster out over the next few years as all teams do. "Do I think Swift is good enough to be that second franchise player?" YES.

great point, Cabbage. the rox are not going to win a title next year. the focus should be on keeping the core intact and adding to it. unfortunately, as clutch and doc have pointed out above, doing so will probably entail a trade of some sort. ideally the next piece would be a frontcourt player. Any scenario that would net Miles, Swift or Martin without giving up francis, anderson or mobley would be a no-brainer in my opinion. okay CD, Rudy -- get to work!

I just have one quick thing to add to this thread:
It seems that Portland is trying to move up and grab one of the Bulls picks using Jermaine O'Neal whom the Bulls are still high on. The guy that we're supposedly targeting is Pryzbilla, who they feel would fill a need at center having decided that O'Neal needs a change a scenery and more playing time if he's going to realize his potential. O'Neal is said to be interested in leaving, and Chicago would like to have him as added bait to lure friend and fellow Arn Tellum client Tracy McGrady to Chicago.
This is just a rumor I've been hearing lately, but it seems to have some meat to it because I know that Portland has already done some background checks on the guy. At any rate, his stock seems to be on the rise and and as a result I don't really see him being available past Chicago's 2nd pick - for better or for worse maybe as far as you guys in Houston are concerned...

Hey Drifter- welcome back. Haven't seen you in forever.

So, who does Portland want? If they had Chicago's #7, who would they try to get? It isn't like they have a weak spot to address with the draft, lol.

I think the Bulls would prefer Pryzbilla because he's a blend of Boerwinkle, Newman, Cartright,Perdue, Williams and Longley.

O'Neal is too athletic!

Well, it seems likely that the only way they'd make a deal for #7 is that if Pryzbilla was left on the board. I had heard that we were looking at dealing with Dallas for the number 12, but Pryzbilla's stock has since risen to the point where he's looking like a mid-lottery pick at worst. I'm not convinced that he's the answer to our future center problems, but he seems to be the guy we're taking a look at. I know very little about Tsakalidis, but he might also be an option if they're looking at project big men. It seems that they've decided that O'Neal, despite being a solid 6"11"-7', plays too small inside to be our future at center and need to look elsewhere. Rasheed Wallace seems to be the more logical choice at the center position as his game continues to evolve. I personally wouldn't mind if they took a shot at either Mike Miller or Dermarr Johnson at SF to replace Schrempf and/or Augmon, who both may be on their ways out. But I don't think that they can afford to do that with Sabonis probably wanting to retire from basketball in the not-so-distant future. Anyway, this is all just speculation at this point, and what Trader Bob really has up his sleeve is anyone's guess at this point.
