I thought there was a thread about them a few months back. Anyone have any experience with this brand? Good? Bad? I'm thinking of getting one of their HDTVs.

I have a 32 " LCD by westinghouse from two years back. So far no problem, I bought it from best buy. I am actually thinking about the 46" model from them this year.

I got a 32in one at BestBuy a few months ago for like $600 with a couple of rebates and coupons. It's a great tv for the price! Great looking picture.

IMO, Westinghouse is a great for a multimedia display option.

However, for television, it's way too bright.

But if you aren't into the technical aspect of blacks, whites, reds, etc., then it's not an issue.

if you play games, Westinghouse is great.
it looks great for 1080p Xbox360(via VGA) or 1080p PS3(hdmi)

Sony seems to be rated by many sites as having the best picture quality of all the LCD tv's. I've been looking at both the 46 XBR and the Samsung 52. Anyone own either of these? If you do own one, does your set have that backlighting problem where dark scenes have an uneven cloudy effect?

Agreed. I bought the 50" DLP 1080p and have been nothing but pleased so far. Even my buddies with Plasma and LCD's gawk at the picture quality it displays. Sports in HD = $$$!

Indeed. A great buy if you look for discounts. My 42" was a heck of a deal at Best Buy when I got it. Bought the extended warranty, though, which I normally wouldn't do, because it wasn't a major brand, like a Sony. Even the extended warranty was a better deal than many other brands. I've been pleased with the picture, overall. Just be sure to buy one with the latest firmware.

I have 3 Westinghouse TV/LCDs...well two after my son put the Wii remote through the screen of one of them.

    And, I love em.

Be careful though, the original ones were all 1080p, and now Best Buy is not carrying the low end 1080p, but rather the 720p.....

I just got an Akai 42' 1080p at Sams club for $1399....and it looks great....now if my 4 year old will just wear that wrist strap.

Samsung TVs ghost on alot of HD programming.

Sharps just dont look as sharp in my opinion.

I would check out some Mitsubishis.
