San Antonio, Dallas and Phoenix are close to unanimous choices to make the playoffs. The Kings, Clippers, Grizz, Sonics and T-Wolves definitely will not make the playoffs. Question: What 2 teams of the 7 listed below do you think will MISS the playoffs in the West? Denver LA Lakers New Orleans Portland Golden State Utah Houston Comments welcome. Please make only 2 choices.
Spur, Nugget, Laker will win their division. Maverick, Rocket, Sun, Warrior, Blazer will make the playoff. Jazz, Hornet will miss playoff.
great thread i think the votes speak for themselves. it seems highly unlikely the rockets wil make the playoffs if they continue playing like this
Rockets will miss the playoffs I'm afraid not enough time to turn there season around with the injuries.
Really? You guys think the Rockets will miss the playoffs? Man you should have made this an open thread, at the end of the season, it would have been nice to see who voted for what given our current status. I think the Rockets will make the playoffs. Getting out of the first round is a different story but we will make it for sure.
I assume you mean one player in particular: Tracy. Let's assume he only misses a couple more games because of his knee. Will we still make the playoffs? There sure are a lot of good teams in the West competing for playoff spots. Are the Rockets more talented than their competitors? I might do it myself but I challenge someone to compare the coaches, rosters and chemistries of the 7 teams and explain why their choice of 5 will make the postseason. Or to shorten things, maybe just explain why our situation is better than two of the others. In all seriousness, I can take any of the other 6 teams and create a good case for them over the Rockets. The ONE thing that clearly stands in our favor is the tough early schedule is behind us.
i'm very surprised with posters here voting the rockets most likely to miss the playoffs. i'd bet anything that this team makes the playoffs. jsut wait and see what they can do with a little tweak of the roster and an easy schedule in the new year.
The GARM has been a rough place. I thought the discussion would be more rational here because most of the worst kooks on the forum don't bother with the NBA Dish.
I am Chinese, so what? I omitted them on purpose. I expect your exact response. You guys are so predictable. BTW, are you African or does your "Shift" just not work on your keyboard? "Asian" is always in capital "A".
THE TIME IS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry not this season, not with this coach and not with this cast of players. 38 wins and a decent lotery pick is all I expect. Les could act of course and change everything!!
1.San Antonio Spurs 2.Dallas Mavericks 3.Phoenix Suns 4.Denver Nuggets ? 5.Houston Rockets ? 6.L.A. Lakers ? 7.New Orleans Hornets ? 8.Utah Jazz ? Portland Trailblazers- I'm impressed with 10 straight wins but that was just a moment and a good schedudele.Blazers need to prove more to pass to the playoffs. Warriors- Golden State?I don't know...to much to believe. NOTE: Last five teams are optional, you never know how good team will be after the AS break.
i voted Portland and Golden State. Golden State still doesn't play defense. They sure can score, but Baron Davis has only played more than 67 games 3 times in his career. With the Warriors, the most he played was the 63 last year. He's on a good start, but is still injury prone. And the rest of that line-up remains a brain fart away from being suspended. Portland is playing really well now, but streaks can go the other way too. Of course, their next five games as T-Wolves, Sixers, Utah (they've beaten 2x on this streak), T-Wolves, Bulls. But the schedule gets harder through the end of the month (Utah again, Golden State, Boston, Orlando, New Orleans, Houston, Cleveland), including a 7 game road trip with a couple of back to backs. They have beaten some good teams on the current streak, but they're young. You could easily imagine them losing that first game, and then going 3-7 over the next 10. OTOH, I like Nate as a coach, Roy is awesome and because they're young, they may go the other way... Our Rockets will have a tough time digging out of their hole, but I think they will. Their schedule gets significantly easier in the final 2.5 months of the season.
To be in the playoffs the Houston Rockets would have to play the rest of the season at a 66% win rate! So far I can't see them doing that. If they did who wants to go through the disgrace of being knocked out in the first round three times in a row? The Rockets are set to take a fall if the owner doesn't wake up soon.
they started out much worse in 04/05, worked their way up to 12-15 (half a game worse than we are now) before finishing with 50 wins. that was t-macs first season. this team has more talent, theoretically, and a much easier finishing schedule than starting schedule. a trade may be necessary to do it, but it may come...
I voted for GS and Denver. I think the Rockets will probably play the Spurs in the first round. No dealio.. 2 huge first round upsets for back to back playoff years. Last year it was the Mavs, this year the Spurms. However I think we need at least 1 good trade to achieve that reality. Tmac for Kobe, Odom, and Bynum?
