If you are in the west you typically play western teams on average about 50-52 times a year. And you only play eastern teams about only 30 times. So 62-65% of the time you are playing tough western teams. If you are in the east just reverse the stats, you play eastern foes 65% of the time and only western teams 35% of the time. I used to think that playing in the east didnt really make too big of a difference in terms of regular season wins(i just thought it was important in the playoffs), but these stats are evidence that playing in the east also boosts your regular season wins up also. So the people who are sipping the Celtics Kool-aid calm down just a bit because obviously the east is boosting their win totals and dare i say their player stats too.
Can't you just give a man some credit where it is due? It isn't like KG started to tear it up once he moved east - he has been a stat machine for a while now.
The east is pathetic only detroit and cleveland had 50 win season, while the west had two 60 win and three 50 win teams and everybody on the west plays each other more. The east was so weak last season that the Magic went to the playoffs with a losing season. I think this year might be better for the east but still a lot weaker conference
im just taking the wait and see approach im not ready to proclaim him the king of the world after only 4 games.
Can't fault the Celtics for doing what they are 'supposed to do'. They've won almost all their games (save Toronto) in convincing fashion.
I don't get it Is this suppose to be a revelation? Western teams play western teams more? I mean, wow ? Also this doesn't apply to the Celtics right now. Since people are simply marveling at their CURRENT success, which is only 4 games and has nothing to do with how the entire schedule plays out. The Celtics look good right now, their FUTURE schedule have nothing to do with anything. Maybe after the season is over you can say "well they played mostly eastern teams haha!" but right now it's entirely pointless. Thanks for trying
All im doing is clarifying and pointing out exactly(percentage wise) the amount of times you play games from each conference. Here is there next 24 games and out of 24 only 6 are with the east and only 1 with a legitimate team. And FYI dont take it too personally....
it's prettyy obvious that eastern teams play eastern teams more. same for the west. when the hornets moved from the east to the west they went from being a 5th seeded playoff team to a western conference doormat.
depends on who you talk to, and what you mean by doormat. Rockets certainly don't think the hornets are doormats
You really believe that? Chicago's off to a terrible start. Cleveland is playing mediocre ball. Miami is a disaster. It's pretty much just Detroit and Boston right now.
Well, even though Detroit played theoretically easier teams last year and had the best record in the east, three teams in the West had a much better record. This despite playing tougher teams. So there is no excuse. If the Rockets are the real thing, they will finish with a better record than any team in the East.
Eastern conference is weaker than ever 3 playoff teams from last season [Chicago, Miami and Washington] all have identical 1-5 records. Boston and Detroit are the only legit teams.
So far, by my count, the West is 14-9 against the East this year. The East is holding its ground so far (surprisingly), but that may change. It IS early.
Man Celtics have some of the weakest competition...thier toughest team in the east is probably detroit...i hate how all the espn experts are on thier nuts...
