i don't understand why jvg continues to give wesley around 30 minutes per. - anytime he touches the ball, something bad happens - he blows layups - his shot is nowhere to be found - his defense is overrated it pains me to see him take a shot. i'm saying to myself "oh no, not wesley" and he always comes through with a brick or a turnover somehow. am i the only one that sees this? why haven't the coaches done anything about it? i haven't looked at stats or anything yet but i've watched every game. he's been playing horrible. we need to keep this guy off the court and get head more minutes.
I remember when he first came over in the trade last year, he struggled with his shot. However, he came through down the stretch. I am hoping for the same this year.
maybe jvg feels wesley has proved himself as a good shooter in the nba before. so once a shooter always a shooter, like with reggie miller, there was times he was off but when he was on he was really ON! of course i wont compare wes to reggie but know what i mean. DA hasnt really done too much in the nba so far. maybe things will change when sura is back who knows. but i agree, i dont even know why we have some of the players we have on our roster. ie, wesley, norris, bowen, howard. lets wrap em up and ship em to NY for starbury. send alston too.
Or maybe he knows there are Rocket fans who need something to complain about, even after a win, and decided that Wesley was the perfect whipping boy?
About 892, and counting... oops...I guess I didn't contrubite to this thread...strike that last comment
And to think this thread was started after Welsey had a pretty nice game last night this BBS is like a pack of wolves ....once someone claims to see blood, everyone else jumps on regardless
I disagree witht the statement, "Wesley doesn't contribute anything to the Rockets." He still does everything else well, like be a tough-nose defender, and a good passer. I can't count the number of times I yelled at the tv when Wesley missed a shot. He just looks terrible shooting the ball. I keep hoping it's still the adjustment process from his surgury, but I am starting to wonder. Does he shoot that poorly in practice, and if so, shouldn't JVG be cutting his minutes a bit untill he gets his stroke back? That's the question people should be asking in my opinion.
i made this thread and included my opinions on the subject. i didn't title it "Wesley Sucks!" or "Trade Wesley Now!", so don't disregard my opinions as some uninformed rocket fan looking for something to complain about. in fact, i included plenty to discuss in my original post while posters like adeelsiddiqui, rocksmillenium, biggienaz, grendal, and phatp responded with one liners that had nothing to do with the subject. calling me a "newbie" and tagging this a "hate thread" is juvenile. your level of basketball knowledge is obviously low if that's the only thing you could respond with.
Dwes had a great game in Jersey and a pretty good game last night against the Wolves. His shot is slowly coming back. I agree with most of the other "veterans." Give him a few more weeks before passing judgement. Not only is he coming back from surgery, but he needs to become acclimated with the games of two new guards on our team. I see his struggles and the teams struggles as a learning process. The same thing happened last year before the chemistry developed. Give it time.
David Wesley is a solid veteran. His shot may be off a little bit, but I think you can attribute that to the fact that he is isn’t getting good lift from his legs due to his surgery. However, since he is a great veteran leader I feel that he does contribute. He is defending pretty well, in fact much of his defensive influence isn’t even seen in the stats. He is also passing pretty well also. But I know he is only getting like something like 1.7 assist per game, but often times he passes to the guy who gets the assist. I think he is just fitting in really well, and I am also proud of the fact that he is isn’t trying too hard to get things done.
