Looks like he's making a strong push for consideration from Obama. He would make a fine VP candidate, and Biden Secretary of State.

Somebody should do a poll asking what should be the primary consideration when choosing a V.P. candidate. Fitness to be prez or balancing of the ticket. Balancing would include geography, age and experience.

Pretty impressive. The interviewers really went after Clark and he handled himself well. He might really help the ticket as the VP candidate.

I was about to make a post talking about General Clark's horribly failed leadership as NATO commander, but I found a Barack Obama blogger that said it better than I can. While he is a War hero and should be honored as such, General Clark's incompetence was a shame to the US Army and the United States in the 1990s, and cannot be forgotten. Senator Obama cannot be dumb enough to have General Clark on his running mate list. Please talk to someone who served in the Balkans about what they think of General Clark.

I liked how he handled the question about Barack Obama's lack of foreign policy experience re John McCain's. Basically saying that having good judgement was more important than claiming experience you didn't have. He seems to have grown in his ability to articulate positions on the issues. More confident handling the questions from the media. In short, what you hoped to see from him four years ago. We might need to bump him up the list.

Wesley Clark has demonstrated arrogance such as getting upset when the wives of officers don't get out of his way fast enough at the canteen

    ____

A very credible article you posted there Weslinder.

How many US troops/ NATO forces were lost during the dominating victory that was the Kosovo War ?

How many would have been had British General Michael Jackson and American Admiral James Ellis not been insubordinate to a Clark order to engage the Russians?

Also, the second link in the blog has a much better article on it, from The Nation. I posted the article I did because it was on Barack Obama's own site.

I for one am SHOCKED that 'The Nation' would write an article that is critical of a general. SHOCKED I SAY!

I have to several and they like him. Beyond political people who have a political reason for opposing him, how many are you basing this opinion on?

The people who don't like him for the most part are other generals (particularly strong right wing political generals) and high ranking officers who are easily offended by transgressions against the traditions and values of Army culture.

I wonder if you are letting the fact that you hate anything that has anything to do with US involvement overseas influence you into believe the political BS that you might otherwise see through.

I'm basing this opinion on a few friends, including one of my best friends, that were enlisted men and lieutenants and served under General Clark's command, as well as the reported incidents. I may be projecting my opinion of the Post-Cold War NATO on Clark personally, but my opinion is reflected by others that don't have the same opinion of NATO.

I've said it before, but General Tony Zinni is your man if you want someone who completely owns the middle east experience debate.

He has credibility in Washington and among state leaders around the world, and considering an Obama presidency will have us pulling out of Iraq to some degree.... his experience would be invaluable.

What about Colin Powell? Could he be a VP candidate for Obama?

Interesting choice ! but what are his views on withdrawing from Iraq? I think that has to be a litmus test for VP. can't be any disagreement on the ticket on this huge issue.

I think that's a long shot. His U.N. presentation hurts the "against the war" line of reasoning.

    I like Wes.

I supported him in 04, and I think he would make a great secretary of defense.
