I have been a die-hard Rockets fan since the twin towers of the 80s (see my sig). I have been through thick and thin with this team 25+ years. I have made regular season road trips down to Houston and even flew down right after work many times from Dallas to Houston just to make in time for playoff games. Before the season started, I started this thread - http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=209649&highlight=excited. Majority voted that this team was going to be average or we weren't going anywhere. Well guess what, we ended up being average and went nowhere. When they went on their winning streak before they blew it, I knew things had to even out. Another season of "once again we miss the playoffs and we get a crappy 1st round pick." Can't for Texans OTAs to start.....
imo the rockets were a first round exit at best before the season started. they even underachieved at that.
I along with tanker forewarned of this. There will be ups and down, but in the end, we would be right back where we started
Uh no I have advocated tanking since the beginning of the season just to hear a bunch of whiners talking out of their butts about how you should never do that blah blah blah and what is the end result ANOTHER ****ING 14TH PICK!!!!!
I expected this team to miss the playoffs ever since Yao went down (barring a major shake up) and I expect the same thing next year. This team plays hard but they just don't have the talent to get it done when it matters the most. This season was the perfect tank season.......and we wasted it trying to "compete"
Yes, I thought this team had a unique mix against certain teams if healthy. I want to see some action to reconfigure the front court for sure. Not just size, which they can't teach, but attitude. I know a bunch of people think McHale is useless, but a lot of Rockets fans like his attitude towards the game. I think he deserves some input into what player changes and picks we go after. And a full camp and season. p.s. I also wouldn't bet my franchise on Dwight Howard any more. Would you? (As if we could.)
Not surprised at all. Our offense and chemistry is a mess. I stopped taking the rockets seriously about six months ago.
Yes this is a surprising ending considering how they played against the top teams in the league. For them to have a collapse for the ages down the stretch is shocking. I never would have thought they would have collapse like this, I thought that had more pride at least. After the 4 game road win streak, they just couldn't handle success and they flat out choked. I was looking forward to a playoff run but this shows they didn't deserve to be in playoffs and probably would have gotten stomped like roaches by whoever they played.
Morey himself said on 610 yesterday that this is right where he expected the team to be at the beginning of the season, and they had to have one or more guys take a step forward, and their main guys had to have great seasons.
Clutch, I think I'm still drunk after another "missed playoffs" season. Can you adjust the poll where it's supposed to say - Yep, I was SHOCKED! No, this team didn't excite me. Why the hell did I do that?!?
If you play young the young guys more, well they might surprise you... See Parsons.... We already knew what we can get from Lowry, Martin, Scola and Dalembert.
Does anyone have that video recapping those 22 wins. I wan to be able to watch something uplifting before the draft in June.
