*A simple post to keep it all in perspective... Our Rockets are headed towards 2nd or 3rd in the West... loaded with high end young talent, and a bunch of quality draft picks/ammo to keep or move in the right deal. Under the circumstances, it's perfectly natural that they'll be some overlap with our culture setting/structural pieces. FVV has served his purpose, and obviously will be on his way to greener pastures sooner or later. To a lesser extent, the same applies to Brooks. We've come so far so fast that we're seeing some welcome "problems" arise. Our youngins are growing...but not quite ready to man the helm. And, Ime is growing with them. This year was never about winning a title. With organic growth and moves in the offseason, our window as contenders should officially open next year. So, buck up all.... The postseason beckons! I'm assuming we get past the first round...MAYBE even surprise, and take one more. Either way, enjoy the ride! The next decade should rock.
Yep. The Rockets have gotten better a lot sooner than most expected. And their positioning in the standings is impressive playing in the West. Just need a scorer that can get buckets any time he wants and/or close games in the 4th quarter. And more efficient 3 point shooting as a team. The Rockets have many young players to mix and match to build a core around. I don't think the NBA will allow the Rockets to advance past the second round depending on who they match up against. Good luck trying to beat the star powers of the Lakers or Warriors with the refs on their side.
I feel all the fans who say this don't actually look at the NBA, but only the Rockets in general, and have this video game notion of player/team improvements where you gain a bit each year until you win a title. Minnesota went to the WCFs and is in the play-in right now. The Kings got the 3rd seed just two years ago and traded away the best player on that team this past deadline. The Grizzlies were the 2nd seed for two years with a full young team, and now they're just another good playoff team in the west. The only way to sustain high quality of play year after year, as history has demonstrated repeatedly, is a superstar. And the Rockets right now don't have a superstar. This is why I'm so on board the Amen bandwagon. Cause he represent the best possibility to be a superstar. I honestly would rather than him looking more like a bonafide star in any game than ending that game with a win right now.
Rockets better not fuc% around and drop to 8th seed which is quite possible. That 6 game losing streak was costly and losing games they should’ve won (jazz, memphis, nets, hornets etc) also costly and added up.
It's not possible, we are locked into a top 6 seed for sure. I think 4 is actually the lowest we can mathematically get at the moment, but don't quote me on that. I read it somewhere but don't remember where.
I see where you're coming from with expecting more and more each year. It's not only getting harder to improve each year, but also to sustain that success year after year with how competitive the league is. 6 different champions in the last 6 seasons. People hoping for multiple championships in the next 10-15 years might be expecting too much. It's not impossible, though. I would just be happy with at least one.
They just lost so many senseless games it’s frustrating. If we won 3-4 more games during that terrible FEB stretch we would be up more than 1-2 games over these teams and not have it come down to the wire like this.
The one that bugs me the most was the recent game against Denver with no Jokic. Just that one extra win for us and one extra loss for Denver would have us at like 99% to lock up the 2 seed.
The Amen inbound to DeAngelo Russell still haunts my dreams. Though to be fair Garland missing 3 free throws probably balances that out. The NBA season really is just a wild ride I guess.
Yeah that one too definitely. The 2 Nets games bother me the most though. I mentioned it before but most of these teams are beating us off simple high screens where we continue to drop our bigs. This doesn’t work and we need to be aggressive on these screens. Utah, Kings, Nets, Knicks killed us. Den kept killing us with murray simply coming off a high screen from Jordan. Weird though beca i have seen Sengun or Jock hard show. Rockets need to change how they Play screens immediately.
That's a big Just. A few of the young cores might be sacrificed to materialize this "just". Agree with the rest of the post though.
We are ON schedule but this is the hardest part, to trade some and to bring in others and get it right. We are not a contender, we don't have the right mix, so whom to keep whom to trade and how to build the right roster to be a contender, that is what is next and will determine whether the Rockets get a championship shot or just fade away in almost there land. DD
I like Tari but he doesn't stay healthy. He'd be more of a keeper. Whitmore I'd trade for whatever. Just a worthless player
