No need to talk about winning the series...we won't even win a game and the futility of this franchise will continue for another year. The Jazz have more talent, they have more energy, they have more confidence and they have more heart. I have been a sunshine pumper all my life but the reality of the situation is abundantly clear.
I'm hoping they can at least pull off a win in game 2 and maybe do the impossible and steal one in Utah to make the series last longer. But I had already came to terms of our fate in the playoffs late in February.
It's hard to disagree with you especially with our team as banged up as we are. I sure wish T-mac would play like he did in the Dallas series a few yrs ago, he would score, drive, shoot, rebound, and pass and was a true superstar then. He's probably not capable of playing at that level anymore.
you could ask any player on this league, if winning 22 games are harder than winning a series. most of them would probally say yes. though the odds may sound horrible, it don't matter. this team has chance wheter it is small or big. and as fans, we should have hope for that small chance of happenin.
Jazz wasted the Spurs by 26 two weeks ago. Then in their last re-match the Spurs dumped a ton of doo-doo on the Jazz. What changed? RA should be watching that tape.
Why do people who start these threads always say things like "i've been a sunshine pumper for life" or "I don't usually say these things" or "I've supported the team completely 'til now", etc?
The Spurs shot 60% for a game, and 70% for a half compared to 38%. That is all that changed. We just shot 37%. Have to do better than that.
People still don't get it: We had YAO for half of those 22 wins; after he went down, it was sheer momentum carrying us to the next ten wins.
The truth is we need Yao Ming. Deke and Scola can't guard Boozer. With Scola Boozer will just overpower him, and with Deke Boozer will just draw Deke out and shoot over him. BECAUSE DEKE NEVER CONTESTS THE DAMN SHOT.
Nah, they're going to win tomorrow. Utah can't win two in a row in Houston. Landry should get more minutes than Hayes.
I'm worried about the sweep, but hopeful we'll win the series. What worries me most is that the top 2 offesive players in the series are on the other team, whereas we're pinning our hopes on T-Mac being the top offensive player. We need a miracle. An Aaron Brooks explosion. A Carl Landy explosion. Something like that.
All I know is that I saw our team get outplayed. Until our players decide to collectively play aggressively then yes we will lose. If we decide to play as aggressively as the Jazz, then we will have a chance. If they can play dirty then so can we. I would much rather see our team losing to the Jazz by getting flagrant fouls than to see them just get pushed around by Boozer and Okur.
Yeah, you sound like a real sunshine pumper. If we lose game 2, then we may have a problem. That hasn't happened yet.
Rookies always suck in the playoffs. We needed Bobby to step up. That didn't happen. Shane stepped up going perfect from three. Unfortunately, he almost never got the ball. T-Mac like usual went cold. Landry = Rookie. Scola = Rookie. Brooks = Rookie. Deke fails at mid-range defense. Mike Harris. Not good enough. Steve Novak. Worst defensive player on the team. Yao Ming and Rafer. HURT.
They should start Woods. But just as the ball goes in the air at the tip-off, he rears back and punches Okur right in his dumb mouth.
I don't care who you are... if your starting Center and Point Guard are both out, it's a tough road. Those are the two most critical positions in basketball. You might be able to adjust for one, but two makes it damn hard. I'm proud of this team regardless of what happens in the playoffs because I saw them deal with adversity and develop a winning attitude and mentality that will pay off when everyone's healthy and Morey adds a piece or two.
Couldn't agree more and I wish more people would realize this....if we lose this series, it shouldn't come as a shock to anyone, considering this team has lost one of their biggest assets in Yao, another vital component in Rafer (for at least a few games), has relied on a collection of rookies in Scola, Landry, Mike Harris and Brooks. And they're facing a Utah team that is fully healthy, damn near unbeatable at home and has played the best basketball since January next to the Rockets and Celtics. But also consider this team went to Utah up 2-0 last year and lost four out of the next five. So maybe we should put to rest any notion of a sweep until it actually happens...it's a seven game series after all.
Maybe we need to run the offense through Shane. Shane post-ups. Shane set up for the 3. Shane gets at least 15 shots. We could do worse than have Shane jack up 3s the entire game.
