    Tell me...

Besides T-Mac, is there ANOTHER player on the squad that you wouldn't ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NOT TRADE?

Because I am telling you...if the MAVERICKS can shove the ball back in your mug time and time again....is that embarassing or what?!?!?!

Gundy can't make these guys go up with some cojones. I thought he could. But he can't.

This team is so freakin soft. Just Krispy Kream soft. My goodness.

    THESE PLAYERS ARE WORTH SPIT!

I totally agree... it's got nothing to do with JVG.

As much as I want JVG to succeed, you must realize that these are the players JVG wanted to bring in. Would Ward be here if it weren't for JVG? Prolly not along with a few other players.

    They're soft.

    They're too nice.

They spark no fear in the opponent. (especially Yao).

It takes a mega performance by Tracy to even keep them close in the game.

They know it takes intensity to win... yet they regress to levels that we've seen the last two games.

JVG can't tell them to do it anymore... now they have to do it for themselves.

Yao needs to decide if he even wants to be a superstar. If he doesn't, that's fine... just let us know, so we won't be expecting you to put up 25 and 15.

Then I'll actually be happy with your hard-worked 13 point 14 rebound performance... but for now, I'm still dissapointed in his energy level, hands, box-out ability, agility, and his tendency to make some dumb fouls (although tonight he got hosed on a couple).

    You pretty much nailed it.

The real problem IMO does not reside with T-Mac and Yao (although Yao has moments where he just plays like a sissy.)

The biggest problem is that the Rockets have no tough guy role players on their team.

Keep in mind that, the Magic made the playoffs the previous three seasons because they had guys like Bo Outlaw and Darrell Armstrong, tough hard nosed hustle guys who will scrap and claw to help their team win. Both of those players were gone by the 03-04 season.

When the Lakers won their championships...they had D-Fish, a tough hard nosed player. In the 1980's the Lakers had Rambis.

The championship Rockets teams had Elie and Thorpe.

The Bulls were average in 1995, but were great in 1996 with pretty much the same players because they added Rodman, probably the toughest role player in NBA history.

Anyway, Back to the Rockets...who do they have? Our Power forwards are the worst in the NBA...Mo Taylor...who does nothing but shoot jumpers from 18 feet and doesn't get rebounds (he played 30 minutes the other night vs Detroit and grabbed ZERO rebounds)....Juwan Howard is not injured and he has not gotten off the bench in the last two games, because he sucks offensively and doesn't exactly shout out to the opponent that he is a good defender either.

Which brings up next, scott padgett, not exactly a rebounder and is a reason why the Rockets are one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA. Mo doesn't rebound and he's followed by Padgett.

But isn't JJ our tough hard nosed player? Not with all the open shots he misses and all the turnovers he commits because of his horrid ball-handling (remember Game 4 last spring when Kobe took the ball from him in OT?)

As for Lue, the guy does not belong in the NBA. He's not fast and he also misses a lot of shots, and the starting PG on the other team always posts him up.

Yao and T-Mac's chemistry could be better if (1) Yao played better and (2) the crappy role players were tougher.

and finally, I think JVG deserves some blame because (1) he doesn't know how to coach offense and (2) he brought in over the hill Charlie Ward and signed him to a 3 year contract. Keep in mind Ward couldn't even get off the Spurs bench last year and Ward has been garbage for the most part this season.

I hear what you are saying, but who brought in these players? JVG had a very big hand in choosing who he wanted to play here, most likely, the deciding hand in terms of who.

I believe he had to settle for a Ty Lue when T-Mac came. and why would JVG want Howard? because he had to take him if he wanted to get T-Mac.

    I could be wrong though.

The Rockets will be better as soon as they get some hustle guys.

I agree; obviously one would have to assume a PF and PG are our top priorities. They will be addressed at some point, only question that remains is when? during the season, or the offseason?

They are all good players imo. I thought it was good of JVG to play all 12 players tonight. Fresh energy different guys.

I like Gaines and Barret. They are young and they hustle...I think they are toughnosed. Sura isn't that soft either.

Jimmy just stands at the 3 point line...but like Pat Ewing said..he is our leader..I don't think we'll trade him..I think he'll eventually become a backup..I hope so..I hope we can find a more like hardnosed whatever dirty work hustle type player. Nachbar sorta does but uhh...he's weak..and we might not resign him. He doesn't last very long cuz he fouls a lot.

NOW Mo or Juwan..one of them has to go. They're both good players..but they're both soft..good scorers..finesse..we need one of em as a backup...and we need a rebounder.

T-Mac scoring 48pts is no big deal. THAT's T-MAC. Van Grumpy still needs to go. :D

Come on, you are giving JVG far too much credit, he still get his players out of position, and if TMac had not had a monster game, we would not have even been in it.

can we get ed najera from golden state? he was drafted by rudy t. but rudy doesnt really like those type of players.... saying that, it is that type of player we need right now. an all out, on the floor player who has no fear. they mavs are sad they had to give him up, and he's just sitting on the bench out there.
