Well I think #3 Mike Dunleavy sucks...How about our Ming?

Someone needs to kick Dunleavy's ass.

I think MD Jr needs a good dose of tough love. I didn't like what I saw at the Grizz game on Tue:
--While the rest of the team was standing shoulder-to-shoulder on the court during the national anthem, he's off in the corner by himself.
--During most team huddles he's detatched and not really paying attention.
--After getting 2 stupid fouls to start the game, he commits a REALLY stupid foul on a breakaway, KNOWING that he's about to get his 3rd foul in less than 5 minutes.
--He literally missed every mid-to-long range jump shot he took. Isn't one of the main reasons he was drafted is because he could shoot for f***s sake?
--He missed 75% of his free throws.

I know it's just summer league, but I'm steamed. His demeanor pissed me off and his play on the court didn't make up for it much. Yeah, yeah he's out of shape, he's rusty blah blah blah. He needs to be slapped.

I havent seen him play, but from boxscores, his play has been inconsistent. His play has ranged from crappy to good. I think he will be decent in the pros. Maybe 12 ppg his 1st year.

I take it you didn't bother asking him for his autograph. :D

I am not convinced that he will make it.......
I just think it was a horrifying mistake by GSW drafter....

Are you sure it's not a GSW draftee thinking... "God, I made a terrible mistake. I should have stayed in school!". ;)

I am not very high on him. He should of been a mid first rounder.

I think Dunleavy's one of those rare player's that's going to be a star or a bust. Although if he does work out, it might take a couple years.

He certainly needs to bulk up, for one. And for another, he needs to be more consistent with teh ball. At times, Dunleavy looked like a great ball handler. At other times, he was merely "normal" with the ball.

He's never going to be good at defense, so to succeed, he'll have to be a point forward like Pippen. I'm convinced he can do this. But he needs to understand the NBA game a bit better first. he can already shoot (despite his poor performacne in the SL). But he needs to learn how to pass, better. Duke didn't really depend on him to be a playmaker. In the NBA, he won't be on what was essentially a college all-star team.

I'm betting on him being pretty good... but a total bust wouldn't surprise me. Him being merely adequate would.

Just think, If we had stayed at #5 in the draft theres a chance
Rudy might have traded UP to get him. Or, if Ming wasn`t there for us at #1, down.:(

I've said it before - put me down for Dunleavy = Leattner = Ferry = Bust.

I really don't know. However, if J Williams and Dunlevy are considered the number one and two college players in the US and they have a team of All American types it is almost impossible that they lost in the NCAA's. By logic one or both are seriously overrated.

I think MD will comeback once the season starts and surprise a lot of people. He has no rythem out there but he will find it once the season starts.

That's a cool trick. Start a thread entirely about Dunleavy, but stick a Rocket's name in the Title to claim the right forum.

hey BrianKagy, isn't this your forum? Keeley? anyone? Don't be shy. ;)

So you will hold judgement on Jay, but not on Dunleavy, even before either plays a single NBA game. What about Shane Battier?

Jay, Dunleavy, Maggette and Battier . . I'm still holding judgement

    Jay has the most promise
battier is ok will never be GREAT but will be GOOD
Dunleavy and Maggette I'm not holding my breathe

I think Dunleavy and Battier are both similar well rounded players with Battier being a better defender. Both will be solid players occasionally making all-star teams, but neither will be great.
