Yep, for the first time in my new home I turned on the heater. The reason being is that it's supposed to get into the 20's overnight. It's on 70 right now and barely kicks in for a little while. I guess all these high efficiency codes are valuable after all.
Anyone else have to turn on their heaters tonight for the first time?

I had to turn on my heater a couple of months ago because it got really cold for a couple of days. And then it shot up to 80 again. And then after a while, it was in the 20s and 30s.. and then the 60s. and then the 40s and then the 60s again.

I don't have an energy efficient home, though. I can feel the breeze through the window right next to me.

Screw you guys. I'm in Indiana and if it gets over freezing for a high I'm happy. It means I can run outside instead of on a damn treadmill. BTW, I've had my furnace on since October.

Yeah, I had to turn it on a few nights ago. Gotta love the SMELL the first time you turn it on for the winter. It's just like burning ass or something...

It's pretty close. That smell is the dust that settled on the burners over the summer getting burned off. And as I'm sure your aware, dust is mostly dead skin and hair.

You must be in Southern Cali. I had a friend tell me about putting up Christmas lights at night last week. She said she had to stop because it got too cold cuz it was like 60 degrees outside!

    We're spoiled :D

Why even bother with lights? Doesn't that hurt the rolling blackouts, and use too much energy?
