But when it came time to offer the consulting job, McNair chose Reeves over former San Francisco coach and general manager Bill Walsh and former Green Bay general manager Ron Wolf, both of whom have served as consultants since they left the NFL.

"I talked with Jimmy, but I didn't offer him a job," McNair said.
"I hired Dan because I'm comfortable with him. We didn't know each other at South Carolina, but when I was putting together (the franchise), he's one of those I spoke with. I can trust Dan to tell me the truth as objectively as possible."

Sounds good to me. At this point Bob is looking for advice. JJ has had an agenda about the Texans all season as he has used his TV gig to further that agenda. At this point, Bob needs someone to tell him the straight facts and he can trust Dan Reeves to do so. Atleast he feels he can. Bill Walsh would have been intriguing, but if Bob doesn't really know him, how can he trust him?

If it was up to me I would have prefered.

    1. Jimmy Johnson
    2. Ron Wolf
    3. Bill Walsh
    4. Dan Reeves

Watch out Bob, if Texans still stink you're going to get the blame this time.

I don't really care who the consultant is, I mean, his job isn't that hard.
    1. Get new coach 2. Get a new GM.

I think whoever is the HC and GM next season is gonna determine things, not a consultant.

Ron Wolf would've been excellent. Oh well.

Great post, though personnel wise, why not 2 and 3 ahead of 1?
