MUGSHOTS: 3 more Lakewood couples charged with welfare fraud

    http://abc7ny.com/news/mugshots-more-nj-couples-charged-with-welfare-fraud/2159354/?sf93711848=1

How does Welfare cut anyone a series of checks equaling 1 million dollars in a year?

    Hell broken down between the 7 couples. . . . over 100K a year?
I thought there was an upper limit?

There are going to be those who believe welfare fraud is insignificant, much less welfare abuse. Its very common for women to stay unmarried and unemployed so they can have their babies on welfare.

The $1M is their personal income that they hide or didn't report. Still the benefits are quite large.

Bunch of greedy bastards. These people take away from the people that really need it. Also has a strong effect on support for these programs - many do not support them because of cheaters, even if its only a few and even if that mean the people that need them will suffer more.

This is an area that both sides can support cracking down on cheaters and prosecuting them to the full extend. Set a tone and examples to discourage others.

Probably will see a couple of more of these become debated in MSM. Typical before they're going to gut something.

I am all for helping people in need. Spending less on certain things this country burns cash on.

But these people and others like them should pay a severe price for this. There are some truly awful people out there.

This is not "welfare" fraud in the classic sense of the welfare queen driving a caddie. That stuff is small potatoes.

This is white-collar Medicaid/Medicare crime where the big money is and where big money people get away with it.

You know wingnuts like @Space Ghost have a hard time of letting go of beliefs like women have babies for government benefits.

A lot of young mothers maybe irresponsible, they aren't having babies to stay in the projects.

Remember when President Donald Trump granted pardons to several individuals convicted in huge Medicare swindles that prosecutors alleged often harmed or endangered elderly and infirm patients while fleecing taxpayers?

One not only defrauded the Medicare program of tens of millions of dollars, but he abused his patients who were elderly, infirm, and often disabled in the process.

Another was in prison after prosecutors accused him of ripping off more than $1 billion from Medicare and Medicaid through nursing homes and other senior care facilities, among the largest frauds in U.S. history.

One was a former doctor and California hospital owner embroiled in a massive workers’ compensation kickback scheme that prosecutors alleged prompted more than 14,000 dubious spinal surgeries. Those patient-victims were often blue-collar workers who were especially vulnerable as a result of their injuries.

The list of their crimes goes on, but the message sent was clear. If you are rich and connected and powerful enough, then you are above the law. These are the types Trump can relate to. These are the types he pardoned. These are the types he uses to seek favors in return that will probably involve corruption and criminal acts.
