The Rockets are a surprising 15-6 since All-Star center Yao Ming was sidelined with a fractured bone in his right leg on Dec. 23. However, they are only 4-5 against teams with winning records in that stretch.

is this true? i was reading the preview for the dallas-houston game on nba.com and i came across this stat...i tried counting the losses,(not counting the clippers game where yao fell) and it seems like we only lost to 4 teams with winning records: dallas, phoenix, denver (at the time), and indy. minny and NO are terrible teams so they obviously don't count. where did our other loss come from?

perhaps minny was an above .500 team when we played them....

4-5 against winning teams without Yao is still pretty good. The good thing is that we are beating the teams we are suppose to beat. If we can hover around that .500 mark against teams with winning records, we'll be in great shape when Yao gets back.

I don't care. We're beating the teams we're supposed to beat. Spurs haven't been en fuego against winning teams, nor was the Heat last year. Beat the teams you should beat to get in, and the we'll see from there.

How many winning teams are there in the East? And how many winning teams in the West outside us, dallas, suns, spurs?

We blew out Spurs, Lakers, Utah without Yao. Enough said.

as i've been saying all along, we're not better without yao. we simply had an easier schedule since he went down.

we should be thankfull that he went down when he did. had it not been for an easy stretch of games, we might be a .500 team.

Let's list out the six losses:

    2006-12-26 IND 81 HOU 76 *
    2007-01-07 MIN 103 HOU 99 *
    2007-01-16 DAL 109 HOU 96 *
    2007-01-17 PHO 100 HOU 91 *
    2007-01-20 DEN 121 HOU 113 *
    2007-02-03 NO 87 HOU 74

NO is the odd man out. So the five games are obviously Indiana, Minnesota, Dallas, Phoenix and Denver.

Consider our 1st-round opponent is almost certainly one of these 3 teams,

our wining taste is very decent so far.

Easy stretch? This was a period where we faced the Suns, Spurs, Mavs (x2 if you include tonight), Denver (x2), Utah, the Lakers (x2), and Minesota (after they beat the Suns). I'm not ready to call January an east patch of the Rocket's schedule. Not to mention that 4-5 against winning teams equals 9 games against winning teams...how many have we played without Yao total? This was NOT an easy stretch.

I wonder if any of those losses came off of back to back games.

A win is a win, no matter who we beat. What matters is that Yao is back and we bring it during the playoffs.
