The woman guardian didn't show up at the cop station to pick up her counterfeit money which she claimed? Duh.

Something like this happened when I was in high school.

Vendors would come and sell food independently during lunchtime and they were always a popular diversion from the usual pizza and chicken strips. A teenage guy came to sell smoothies for a few weeks and he was remarkably dumber than any of the other vendors. A guy in one of my classes went home and proceeded to make fake $5 bills and $10 bills (fives hadn't been changed yet with all of the anti-counterfeit techniques) with his scanner, a printer, and limited brain capacity. For a few weeks, he would approach the smoothie kid and say, "Can I get five ones for this five?" Of course the smoothie guy gave him the change, and more importantly, real money.

What makes all of this crazy is that the kid was eventually caught. Not by the smoothie guy, not by the administration, but by the FBI. They approached him about his, um, "trade," and told him to immediately stop. Since the Agency has better things to do than go after high schoolers with scanners, they scared him into stopping. The kid now lives in Japan, probably causing more mischief with robots.
