http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2004/04/10/news/top_stories/19_55_164_9_04.txt?id=19_55_164_9_04 I'm a huge Weird Al fan, sucks for him to lose them both at once like that.
I don't know about you guys, but if my parents were to go, that's the way I'd want them to go... together. Although I find it odd that they died at together? I mean, I would think one would die and the other could at least say "damn, I better call for help".
This is very sad. However, and not to be rude, is this really major news? I couldn't sleep Sunday morning and I heard this. I missed the parents part and thought that it was Yankovic himself that died. When I read that it was his parents, I wasn't really sure why that was newsworthy. Still sad, though.
Not true. I'm sure other people or couples have died this way. The main reason it's newsworthy is because of who their son is.
Well, which is it then? You said it was only newsworthy because of the way they died, which obviously isn't true.
That sucks. I would say this is the least common way to die from carbon monoxide poisoning. How many people die from starting a fire in the fireplace and forgetting to open the flu? Final Destination 3?
It's -both- If weird al's parents had died of natural causes (seperately) no one would even know. Stuff makes the news because it happens to important people (unless it's just something super extraordinary) Weird Al isn't very important, but he's known enough to where if people see the headline "weird al's parents found dead" they will **** an eyebrow.
Man, really sad. Back in the mid-90's, a drummer friend of mine and I were chatting on AOL (yup, I had it way back when) in some public chatroom we created called "Long Haired Musicians." We were actually just planning some gigs, etc. when a couple people came into the chat. One of them, it turned out, was Wierd Al. It took a while for him to convicne us, but it really turned out to be him (we manged to find out for sure later). We sat in that chat room talking with him for over an hour. He was genuinely the coolest, nicest guy you will ever meet and funny as hell.
I saw him perform at Astroworld with the Monkees when I was about 6 or 7, or maybe older. That guy rocked.
I've heard stories like that from lots of people. Either on the internet, or just in person hanging around town. He'll talk to anyone, just have a good time.
