    Weezer singer extends his celibacy
    Associated Press

NEW YORK - Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo is continuing his celibacy past his self-declared deadline.

The 35-year-old frontman earlier vowed to remain celibate for two years. Although that deadline expired six months ago, Cuomo still doesn't expect to jump back in the sack anytime soon.

"It's been two and a-half years now, actually,'' Cuomo tells Blender magazine in its new issue, on newsstands Tuesday. ``The vow is over, but I wanted to keep cruising.''

Though he's a lead singer for a popular rock band, the bespectacled Cuomo says it's not difficult to manage restraint.

"Abstinence doesn't require as much self-discipline anymore,'' he says. ``We never had any serious groupies, anyway. Our generation got screwed.''

Cuomo's vow makes Weezer's 2005 music video for Beverly Hills somewhat unusual; it was filmed at the Playboy mansion with dozens of Playboy models and Weezer fans.

Earlier this year, Weezer released their fifth album, Make Believe.

That's what happens when you're tired of sex.

Flip on the tele...wrestle with Jimmy

Seriously, I think he should cut out this vow of celibacy asap. Maybe then Weezer can put out a good album for a change. Something they haven't done since Pinkerton.

So, now we know that abstinence, while making otherwise dim-witted men smarter, it really takes away your ability to make a good album. :D

Truer words have never been spoken, although I still dig their other 3 albums.

I wonder if he is one of those "I'm remaining celebate" people who thinks sex ONLY means "normal" intercourse--meanwhile he's banging girls up the pooper left and right and getting six or seven BJ's a day.

Really? The Green Album is probably my favorite Weezer outing. Might be a bit sappy but there are some nice tunes on there.

Just a guess, but as soon as the US government makes it legal for adults to sleep with 15-year old Asian girls, Rivers will drop his "vow" tout bloody suite.

Maybe he met someone he really liked and asked her to go to a Greenday concert. She said she never heard of them. How cool is that? So he went to her room and read her diary.

Or maybe he's dumb, she's a lesbian. He thought he had found the one. They were good as married in his mind, but married in his mind is no good.

Or perhaps she's got a big mouth, with which she babbles a lot. She laughs at most anything, whether it's funny or not.

Maybe he just feels like why bother? It's gonna hurt me. It's gonna kill when you desert me. This happened to me twice before.

I get the feeling he doesn't wanna be an old man anymore. It’s been a year or two since he was out on the floor. Shakin’ booty making sweet love all the night. It’s time he got back to the good life.

Green and Mala weren't bad but they just weren't the same as Blue and Pink. Maybe it's not fair to compare them to the first 2 albums because they were both so great.

I really think Weezer lost their unique sound when they got rid of Matt Sharp, the ex-bassist. He co-wrote some of the songs on Blue and did all the falsetto vocals. The falsetto vocals are a big part of what made them so unique IMO. Plus Matt is a super cool dude. I met him in Austin and we talked about the movie Kingpin for about 45 minutes.

And Rivers doesn't really solo like he used to. He used to shred, now it seems like he just plays the melody to the song.
