For $1,000, in August or September. Wife and I would like to take a little weekend trip (maybe also covering a Friday or Monday) to somewhere around Houston. Budget is hard-capped at $1,000. On a scale of Relaxing-to-Exhilarating, we would want it to be much closer to relaxing. Don't want the drive there to be too long. So it would need to be in or around Houston. Let's say, not much longer than a two hour drive. Does anyone have any good recommendations?
I know you said near Houston, I'm sure you could find an all inclusive resort with flights to go to Mexico. Probably Puerto Vallarta or Belize and maybe Cancun. The flight should be around 2 hours.
Go to the HorseShoe Bay Resort. A bit more than 2 hour drive, around 3+ but well worth it. Plenty of stuff to do and relax at the same time.
Please point me to an all inclusive in that area that I can get into for $1000 for 4 days, 3 nights including airfare. Thanks
I booked 5 days/ 4 nights in Vegas for $625...Includes Allegiant Round Trip, Airport Shuttle Service to and from Hotel, and Bally's Jubilee Suite overlooking Strip. Dropped $200 for tickets to "O". Sorry...Just noticed "In that Area" My bad.
How about Fredricksburg? I stayed there one weekend with an ex-girlfriend and we loved it. We stayed at a place called Quiet Hill Ranch. Pretty cool place. But, your lady will like the stroll looking at the shops down the main street, especially at that time of year when hopefully it's not quite as hot. There's a winery out there somewhere. There's also a place right off the main road that puts on shows where they imitate famous singers and bands. Could check out a place like The Woodlands Resort. I've stayed there a few times and it's a really nice getaway. There's some casual things to do out in that area. What about somewhere around Lake Conroe? If you don't want to go too far, there's always Galveston. I would recommend a place called Islander East. It's right on the beach away from the crowds. Easy to get to the Strand from there where, again, you can avoid the crowds. I think there are some nice B&B's in Brenham. Could always tour the Blue Bell Factory. Just some suggestions.
Within Houston city limits, I'd say Hotel Granduca is a nice spot. Chill by the pool, get a couples massage, eat amazing food, etc
I would purchase the best seats you can for that $1000 for the rockets and warriors game four in houston to watch them get swept. Very romantic.
Flights from Houston to Puerto Vallarta direct with United are $360 each so that gets you to $720. You can stay at Krystal Vallarta (4 star hotel) all-inclusive for $237 total for 3 nights. That comes out $957 total for 2 people, which leaves about $40 for airport transportation. I found all this in under 5 minutes. I am sure using airline miles, checking more hotels in Cancun and Puerto Vallarta you could find an even better deal to have more cash available for other stuff. This was all assuming a Friday to Monday trip on April 15 - April 18.
If you want to drive somewhat close & be by some water & relax in the sun- -Rent a nice cabin out in Wimberley on the Blanco River -LaVilla Vista (B&B) on Lake Travis- Might be a bit pricey, but its really nice -Rent a beach house out in Surfside for 100 bucks a night. -Plenty of lakes & lake house rentals out in East Texas If your idea of relaxing is playing in a cool city environment- (cheap flights) -Flight & hotel to NOLA from Bush or Hobby(SW) could be less than 1000 easily. -Flight & hotel to Vegas & hang by the pool or walk the strip & see the sites. or TX Urban City fun - -Austin/Downtown - There is a Double Tree in I35 with good rates I stay at quite a bit. You can walk to everything downtown. Way cheaper than anything else I normally see. See some music, drink some beer, eat some good food. -San Antonio - ugh.. nevermind. (actually SA has some neat spots downtown, but if its SA or Austin, its Austin all day long). .......... My top choice would be getting a nice cabin out in Wimberley. Its a little longer than a 2 hour drive most likely but its truly a retreat. You'll forget you are even in Texas. If you need recs for places to stay there let me know, and I can look up where I've been before.
I think the $1K was his all in cost for the weekend (food, activities, etc..) not just travel costs...
Well the all-inclusive package includes all your food and booze. So as long you just sit your ass on the beach that's the only cost you have in that hypothetical scenario above I posted.
Went to this B&B called Blisswood once. they have archery, fishing, horse back riding, bikes, in room massage, etc. We used a groupon...but this was a few years ago. It was nice. Only thing is, no TVs. But, if you're really just trying to relax, you can definitely relax there. They had a pool (I think a few pools, but this is the one we swam in), that was inside a green house. When we went, there were very few other people. You can bring your own food and cook there, or there's a restaurant in town. From my area (memorial City mall), its about an hour and a half drive.
All inclusive Getaways to Mexico are a good idea and can be done for $1000. If you're into feeling like you're in Miami and you like cheesy chain places - Cancun is good If you like to feel more like you're in Mexico, then I'd suggest Playa Del Carmen. Less glitz and chains and more of a getaway. If you want to stay in Texas, there are plenty of B&B's in Texas. Take half-a-day off Friday and drive out. http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/texas.html http://www.bbonline.com/united-states/texas/ http://www.texasbb.org have fun
