Let me start off by saying that I'm a Orlando Magic fan.

I see Webber just using Detriot and Houston to get to Orlando or New York. I don't see Webber staying in the West and play with a team that doesnt even have a star.

Webber will force a sign and trade to either New York or Orlando. If he wants to be in Orlando next year he will be. We own a future Sacramento pick from the Nick Anderson trade, if Webber leaves Sacramento that pick will be lottery. You can bet Sac wants it back.

Darral Armstrong, Bo Outlaw, signed John Ameachi with two future picks(Sacs, Orlando). We would have to add a couple of cap fillers to that as well, unless Webber is willing to take a 10mil opening year salary.

    PG:Grant Hill, Omar Cook(22)
    SG:Mike Miller, Dee Brown
    SF:Tracy McGrady, Monty Williams
    PF:Chris Webber, Pat Garrity
    C: Micheal Dolec, Brendan Haywood(15)
    *Player with the 4.5 exception
    *1 mil exception (Horace Grant?)

That team right there will be in the finals every year in the east for the next 6 years. With zone defense next year guys like Miller, Brown, Garrity, Dolec will improve. Plus we still got a lot of future picks coming up(Clippers, Mavs, Pho,)

Can you guys tell me that the Rocket team can be better than that team.

P.S Nice to meet everyone [IMG]

If I'm not mistaken, Sacramento owes the pick to Orlando over the next 4 years... they're not exactly bent over a barrel here.

I agree Orlando has a very good shot at getting Webber (though it looks like Antonio Davis may be more the target), but I don't think Armstrong and Outlaw will get it done.

Play nice if you like, Clutch, but what was that team w/o a star BS about?

Yeah and how does Webber and this superstar Magic team get a ring when they won't be able to the dominating centres of the West, just like the Kings couldn't.

The Sam Smith article (Chicago Tribune) does seem to point out that Antonio Davis is the target of Orlando. And if Detroit facilitates the deal, taking Outlaw and Doleac, I don't know if the Knicks will have any players that the Pistons will take on to help them get Webber...maybe Chicago could help, but who would they take? The Knicks might offer Rice but he's expensive and injury prone and in his last years.

So I think it's coming down to Sacramento and Houston in the Webber sweepstakes. Depending on whether the Pistons and Bulls want a serving of Rice, as I said.

And, as far as that goes, Cato + #13 would grab something far better for the Bulls if they were willing to facilitate a 3-way trade.

I agree that Orlando has a shot at signing CWebb. However, if I were Chris Webber there would be 2 things that I would surely ponder: 1 - Will Grant Hill totally recover from surgery? And 2 - With Hill, McGrady & Miller is there enough ball to go around?

    Trademan12 -

The salaries of Amaechi, Doleac, Outlaw AND Armstrong do not match Webbers. What makes you think the Kings want any of these players? Losing Webber, the Kings will have money and probably draft picks. Petrie will put the Kings into a rebuilding high-gear and IMHO can do better in the draft and FA market than the players you've offered for a S&T.

I think the Magic fans should wait a little while before hoisting up the EC Championship banner(s).

I was talking to one of my friends who knows the stuff going on with basketball. Lets say he is a wannabe Doc Rocket. He lives in Miami and he was telling me that webbers family is begging him to come to houston , and that Sacramento is off his list, he wont even look to sign with them. He thinks Webber is going to be here.

Thats the scoop I heard. Oeilpere or Doc Rocket, Have you heard anything like this?

I do think he will go East and Orlando seems like the most likely candidate (unless MJ does come back and can convince C-webb to anchor the team). The Rockets still have a chance but I read somewhere else that Dallas may be in the sweepstakes. They can offer Howard & Trent who are both decent PFs. They are not great by any menas but I think if Cuban sits his mind on it that he may be abl to make it happen.

Ok T-Mac's one-year-wonder appeal is really starting to piss me off . Just because our "Non Stars" dont put up 30 a night doesn't mean there aren't as good as everyone else

Lets see , We finsished 45-37 thsi year and we werent in the playoffs , You finished 43-39 and got the 7th seed . We Swept the Whole Eastern Central Division . But still we got no Playoff action , You got into the playoffs and got beat by the team we swept . But I wont complain about anything , You can have Chris Webber and than you might Finish 44-38 and get the 6th seed and get whooped again .

I read recently, that Orlando is thinking more about signing Marc Jackson.

Evidentally his mother and family (or something) live in the tampa area, and he has mentioned that he would like to be in Orlando. The Orlando article also mentioned that it would be alot cheaper to get Marc Jackson, then for the Mafic to trade half the team away to get the salary cap room needed to sign Webber or Antonio.

I'm starting to wonder why in the hell would the Kings want to take on these scrubs just to accomodate Webber? It's not like he's doing the Kings a favor with some of these trade scenarios I'm hearing. The Kings aren't in the basement anymore and can actually attract free agents now. It'd be wiser for them to just save that precious cap space.

There's no way that Outlaw and Armstrong plus fillers get it done. You can bank on Antonio Davis being in Orlando next year though, who is probably a better fit than Webber considering your current huggie bear front line. Either way, the Magic should be a beast next year if they get AD, draft a big man with the 17th, and get a backup point guard with the 22nd.

A sign and trade I could see happening would be Houston and Camby for Webber but the Knicks would be an average team with just him and Sprewell, and I'm pretty sure he knows that.

    Indiana and Dallas? No chance....

I don't know about the Kings ability to attract free agents in the future.

I mean look at all of the bad comments that have been floating around about that city for the last two years. I see the Kings having almost as much difficulty at attracting free agents as the Utah Jazz do.

The Jazz have been a good team for a long time and they hardly ever sign any decent free agents.

I don't get why everyone is so fixated on Camby/Houston as the only solutions to a Sac/NY S&T for Webber. I floated this once before: Larry Johnson, Othella, + either Rice and/or a first round draft choice for Webb. As stated on another thread, my prediction on C-Webb is NYC all the way.

Houston is being totally strung along if they think anything different. C-Webb's ego is to big for Houston, and would totally screw up our team chemistry anyway! The boy pouts WAAAAAAY too much for a rich man playing a kids game !!!!!!!

I think there's a big difference in drawing power between Sacramento and Utah. It's far more attractive than Salt Lake.

LJ is old and injured and sucks and makes too much money. Rice doesn't suck but meets the other criteria. Detroit is out of the running to help NY after recent Orlando revelations (Outlaw, Doleac). Chicago could help but good luck; the Bulls have pie-in-the-sky ideas about getting Webber and Houston (yeah, that'll happen).

Webber's choices are fairly few. Indiana is a possibility. Does he want to go there?

Will he have a chance for a ring in Houston? If we draft well and if Cato will just play defense...we have good chances in a couple of years.

Please give me one good reason why the Kings would take on LJ's contract of $11.3M in 2001, $9.6M in 2002 & $7.8 in 2003? Or Rice's $8.5M in 2001, $9.5M in 2002 and $10.4 in 2003? Harrington has some value but has a POpt after 2002-2003.

I'm not saying the Knicks can't pull something off (with help from a 3rd team), but IMHO your scenario for Webber to NY is fiscal suicide for the Kings.

In what ways is Sacramento more attractive than Salt Lake?
