Has this already been discussed here? Maybe I missed it but I thought this was big news. On the way to work this morning, the "One on One Sports" news flash on 610AM reported Chris Webber as saying "He is bored playing in Sacramento", "wants to be traded immediately" and "wants to go to New York"

Note that One on One Sports is New York based, so it may just be wishful thinking on their part.

    Not looking good for us.

Is there any truth to this? It doesn't seem like something he would say.

Just heard more about it on the way home. Apparently his quotes are in ESPN The Magazine. He said he loves his team mates, owners, organization etc, but is just bored in Sacramento. He said he wants to go to a big marketand mentioned NY by name.

Is he bored as well sitting atop the standings in the west (as well as the league) for much of the season?

When will people realize. Webber doesn't care if he wins the Title or not. He wants to play with his friends. He is set money-wise, for life. He has never won a championship in college or the NBA,and probably never will.

The quotes in ESPN the Magazine don't pinpoint interest in New York. There are threads in the other forum, and, I think, on the front page. Webber made positive statements about NY (Sprewell), Orlando (maybe they can make a deal), Phoenix (Kidd) and Houston (Steve and Cat and he knows we want him on the team). Add this with other comments about wanting to stay West and in a big city, and we have a better shot than NY because we have the great young team, warm weather, and CAP ROOM.

So let's hope Sac keeps him til the off-season.

There's nothing wrong with a player wanting to play close to home or with friends. For some people, winning might not be the most important thing, maybe its just about having fun with friends.

When will people realize. Barkley doesn't care if he wins the Title or not. He wants to play golf with his friends. He is set money-wise, for life. He has never won a championship in college or the NBA, and probably never will.

strange how it makes more sense to apply these comments to Barkley (since Jordan said the same thing about him), yet it seems even more ludicrous to say it.

Webber and Barkley are/were as fierce playoff competitors as there is/was...no?

    What am I not realizing?

I think it's extremely unfair to say that Webber doesn't care about winning. He's a competitor. If you watch him while he plays, you can tell he's intense and very into trying to win.

Seems like he would want it more since he came so close in college. Redemption?
