Okay, the draft is over and Griffin and Morris are now Rockets (assuming there is no other deal waiting in the wings, which I really don't see happening). But that still leaves us with some unanswered questions. 1. We have Francis at the 1 and Mobley at the 2. Moochie can back either of them. 2. We seem to have a glut at the 3, which seems to indicate that moves will be made there. Clutch seems to think that Langhi and Williams are on the block and I can't argue with that. Both Griffin and Morris can play the 3. If we resign Anderson, there is no need for either Langhi or Walt. Even if we don't sign Anderson, we may have what we need. Many of the reports I've seen seem to think that Griffin will be a contributor fairly quickly (maybe not a starter yet, but good possibility by the end of the season). 3. The 4 is a big question mark right now. Do we continue to go after Webber or not? Drafting Griffin may actually help our bid, but what about Taylor? We could resign him for significantly less and I'm not sure that we are worse off than with having Webber. Van Horn may also be available. 4. The 5 spot is troublesome too. I would love to have Hakeem back, but it doesn't look to be happening. Besides, even if we don't go after Webber (or do and just don't get him), signing Hakeem will strap us for cash both this year and next. Does anyone know who is going to be available next year? We might find someone there that benefits us better than Hakeem or Webber. Cato is obviously a waste of roster space, but how do we get out from under his contract. Is it possible that Chicago is still interested? I hope so. If not, we may have to wait until mid-season and try to find a team that is absolutely desperate for a body and try and work a deal then. Regardless, that leaves us without a center (unless you count Collier, which I don't). Both Mutombo and Marc Jackson are possibly available, but I'm not sure what our shot at signing either is. Perhaps we don't need a true center, but we still need a body on the court and I would prefer that it wasn't Cato or Collier. Anyway, those are my thoughts at the moment. It is certainly shaping up to be an interesting offseason. The team is starting to look more like a contender than simply a 7 or 8 seed. ------------------ "What did you mean when you opened your mouth and let all our secrets out?"
