Some forecasters are saying it could head our way. It's going to depend on what it does after it hits Mexico. Tropical Depression Three 5:05 p.m. ET Sun.,Jul.3,2005 B. Bernard and M. Ressler, Meteorologist, The Weather Channel Thanks to reports from the Air Force Reserve Reconnaissance Aircraft, the tropical disturbance moving WNW through the western Caribbean has been upgraded to Tropical Depression Three. The depression and associated heavy downpours are tracking into the Yucatan Peninsula (Cancun, Cozumel) which will preclude any further development for the time being. Once the system moves into the southern Gulf, development may resume. Farther east, a well-defined tropical wave in the western Atlantic is pushing toward the Windward Islands where locally heavy showers can be expected tonight. Additional development of this system, if any, will be slow. In the eastern Pacific, a well-organized disturbance about 200 miles SSE of Acapulco, Mexico, could form into a depression during the next 36 hours as it plows toward the WNW. Squally weather remains a good possibility along the Mexican coast from Puerto Angel to Zihuatanejo. Weather Channel Link
The guy on channel 2 said the projection models have Galveston with the highest strike probability at this point. If it stays on course, it's hitting us. The hope is it veers one way or the other while going over the Yucatan. If not...we'll be meeting TS/Hurricane Cindy on Tuesday night.
We could DEFINITELY use the rain! When was the last time it rained? June 2nd, right? Wow...a whole month without rain SUCKS!!
July doesn't seem to be any better. Actually I prefer the dry weather compared to the normal summertime weather pattern of daily afternoon thunderstorms that wreak havoc in many areas.
YES, please give us some rain! MB leaves me alone with the house for just a few weeks…and what happens? I kill the freaking lawn. It now looks like something from the movie Signs. (Due to my excellent skills in (over) fertilizing the grass). So yes, some rain would not hurt.
Strange that Ch2 only has a 30% chance of rain forecasted. Is it because this thing is really weak, or they just haven't updated their site?
The absolute bestest weather geek forum I've found for tracking this stuff is here. ---> http://www.geo-earth.com/forums/ I just lurk there because there are some really really knowledgable folks over there. I'm just a noob weather geek.
I agree - we could use the rain. At least some of it ought to make its way out here. Keep our grass from dying, and fill the rivers back up for tubing.
We'll have to keep an eye on this one. Still fairly early in the season for anything major and there is a significant amount of sheer over the Gulf at this point. Also, this should be a fast mover not allowing much time for development. A lot will depend on the position of high pressure to our west. If it moves closer or to the north, we'll see a bigger north and east turn. If not, it could come pretty close. We could definitely use the rain.
