Just wondering typically what is the weather around a few places in February, ie Houston, LA, Chicago, NY? and what's its like to travel around that time? Thanks
Houston doesn't have winter, they have that week that you wear a jacket. February in Houston is pretty nice. Probably in the mid 40's/low 50's early in the morning and getting up to the mid 60's/low 70's. There is an occasional early morning frost, but that's usually over in December or January. First cold front of the year hits here tomorrow! My leather jacket is all set to go...
I live near Buffalo, which is probably a bit cooler than New York City, but in February, it's usually in the teens or the 20's everyday (with some fluctuations...depending on the year, it could be consistantly around 0), usually with some form of snow everyday or every other day. Most days it's light snow though, and travel is fine around it. Especially in New York City, there is A LOT less snow than here. Here, we're known for our snow.
Say goodbye to highs in the 90's for the next 10 days. http://www.weather.com/activities/o....html?locid=77373&from=36hr_topnav_undeclared
just go to weather.com and when you type in a city, you can check on annual averages and they have all that info there.
Hehe, you guys probably didn't notice smeggy is an Australian. I think telling him temperature readings in celsius rather than fahrenheit would be more helpful. I happened to live in souther California for 5 years. Temperature wise it's pretty comfortable in LA in February. Most likely the highs are lower than 30 C and the lows are higher than 12 C. Although southern California is not known for rain on year round scale, February is one of the "rainy" months. Once it rains, it never seems to stop. This could be frustrating to a visitor if you are in LA during the rainy days. Chicago is probably not an ideal place to visit in February. Although not as bad as in January, it can still be very cold. Don't be surprised if you experience lows in the minus mid-teens, windy and snowy weather, and wild temperature fluctuations. The beaches along the Lakeshore Drive by Lake Michigan are not bad under warm weather, but I doubt you'd see many people out there for fun in February. If forecast says no rain, I'd go to LA.
hey, remember when you were in elementary school and they all tried to scare the crap out of you about the metric system?? how we all had to learn it because feet and pounds were going the way of the dinosaur?? stupid metric system. King Henry Doesn't Make Dark Chocate Milk
I resent this. Think about it...they're slowly changing you to the Metric system... How many 2-liter cokes do you buy a day? Look just below your car's speedometer. It's in Km/H. I can't believe you don't like multiplying by 10's and would rather remember that there are 16 ounces in a lb. (pound)? To top it off, therer are Fluid Ounces and regular Ounces. That's just ridiculous. The United States is the only country now with an official ENGLISH system for measurement.
Houston In February? Could be 25 degrees and disabled by an ice storm, could be 75 degress and sunny. Could be both in the same week. Most probably though it will be about 55 and overcast. Here's the data: http://www.centerpointenergy.com/files/104829_Climatological_Data_Houston_Annual2003.pdf
I think the conversation on the metric system stuff between Vincent and Jules took place in an elevator, on their way to giving this guy a biblical lesson:
guess we want to know if we will see Snow in New York, getting the impression Chicago in Feb will be white
that's what I was gonna say without the data. I can remember some very cold February days from my youth, when water in the ditches would freeze. But then it could be up to 70.
