The whole meteorological profession is a freakin farce. Seriously, sure they can catch Hurricanes, but thats b/c they are freakin huge. Try predicting rain and they must bat worse than Ausmus. The funny part is they have the GALL to try to put out 10 day forecasts. Seriously, after a few drinks, I'm shouldn't be around meteorologists

    heh don't rub it in.

All week long, I've been meaning to fertilize my lawn, in conjunction with the heavy rain. Woke up this morning, and the forecast says its going to rain again so I go ahead and fertilize. Not a drop has fallen since.

Now, I have my sprinkler system going. My neighbors probably think I am nuts.

I was supposed to go camping this weekend, but called it off due to the weather. Believe me, I'm in a great mood.

I won't go into all the technical mumbo jumbo, but what happened was the models were off -- way off. The mass that came through on Thursday was expected to be in North Texas at that time, but it wasn't. It made it's way further south than expected...then it sat over the Hearne area...then it moved through the Houston area way faster than expected. The models were showing the front moving slowly through the state -- and stalling over the Houston area. Indications were that a disturbance would form in the upper flow...and a cold front was moving into northern Texas...that was expected to form a nasty line of severe storms. That didn't happen. The atmospheric dynamics just weren't there. Mother Nature just threw us all a curve ball. That all changed within less than 12 hours...one minute is was going to pour, the next it looked dry. The atmosphere is still quite unstable...so once the sun comes out and it starts heating up, chances of pop up scattered showers are still there. This is Texas, so chances are good it will all change around again!

Ha. Y'all should come to Newfoundland some time, where getting four seasons in one day is a common occurrence.
