Dear TRUE ROCKETS fans: What would you say to someone who is trying to decide whether she should wear an Hakeem Olajuwon classic Red and Yellow jersey to a Rockets' game at Toyota Center? The story behind this was that she put the jersey on, and someone told her: "That's an old jersey!" and started 'clowning' on her about wearing it. My response to her: [rquoter]You will be REVERED, madam. You will be given many THUMBS UP and RESPECK YO! confirmations from true ol' school fans such as myself. Anyone that truly knows Rockets history will agree that your jersey choice is a fabulous one. Any player from the '94 and '95 championships' jersey is welcomed with open arms. Heck, even if Dr34m is at the game, he might say "hey, [haha] nice jehsee!!!" (Nigerian accent). [/rquoter] What would you say to her about wearing the jersey? Before you ask: no, I will not post pics of my friend.
Been a rockets fan since 94 and I own 1 jersey..probably.the same one you have..and I would say nice jersey and give you a high five..best jersey ever...how old were the kids clowning you..12?
I think it sounds like she's a young fan. Younger kids, especially casual fans, don't get the idea of throwbacks or paying respect to a former player. Truth is, she probably will be clowned, but a lot of other fans at the game may think it's cool. I actually just dusted off my jerseys yesterday. Had that same olajuwon, 2 iverson jerseys (have no idea where they came from) and a Bibby Arizona jersey.... Yeah i never bought many because i was afraid they'd get traded soon after
whoever started clowning needs needs a swift kick in the bum with THE BOOT i know some people arent too big on jerseys but if you are in any way a Rockets fan if you only own one jersey it should be Hakeem's. (even if its the PJ/dildo one)
No clowning Hakeem jerseys... You clown the people who still wear McGrady jerseys to games and act like the biggest Rockets' fans in the world.......
Err, I guess I'm a 'newer' hardcore fan from the Francis years, but I thought older jerseys were cooler than newer ones...? I think the clowner is a little confused - especially considering how much our current team sucks comparatively. For 13 years I only had one jersey and it was Olajuwon until I bought Landry in 2007.
I wore just a few years ago an original BULLARD #50 red and yellow jersey I bought at OSHMAN's a long time ago... with pride.
Anyone who would "clown" on another fan for that isn't really a fan at all. Is that even questioned? Been a fan for 25 years...older jerseys elicit nothing but a smile from me.
Only 2 jersies I own are Akeem and Earl Campbell. I don't care what anybody thinks I wear them with pride.
My soul smiles when I see young people wearing rockets throwback jerseys. Those clowning are probably just there, to do anything but watch and cheer the rockets.
Exactly, the only people who need to be clowned are the tools who bought Steve Novak and Donte Greene jerseys.
I hate band-wagoners who only buy jerseys and Rockets memorabilia and clothing when the team is winning... and they don't stick by the team when we lose. I don't care who's center: Chuck Nevitt, Moses, Dream, Larry Smith, Yao, Cato (ewwww... I can't believe I said that), Deke, or Jordan Hill, I'm cheering for my Rockets and wearing my team colors with pride. Yes. Yes it is. And I am showing this thread to my friend.
Had to have been a spurs fan acting that way, still sore about stuff like that MVP trophy that the Admiral didn't deserve.
