    Yao drive to the basket!

We don't have to try anything other than that. They simply won't work. If NBA history tells us anything, you have 1000 ways to lose, but there's only one way to win--attack the basket relentlessly, especially your best player!

Most NBA playoff/final games are close, the loser more than often seems just one step away from the winner. However, that 'one step' will not come in your life time if you still bet on your jump shots.

I know yao will have a tough time and a ton of TO's with driving to the basket. But it's once or never, if yao does not try this, he will still be a star(even with regular season MVP someday like Dirk in the best case senario) but not a champ ring. If yao try this, he will see a lot of criticism and fail many times, but hopefully he will get used to the drive and turn those flashes in the past(he has that speed and agility sometimes) to something consistent.

Yao hadn't added any new tools since his rookie year(actually he lost many of his old tools). If he cares about the short term loss and dare not to take responsibility to develop himself to another level, we can only expect the similar results(either he scores with those preditable shots or pass to lesser teammates 'hoping' for a assist).

On a side note, the so called 'open' shots are not really that open when yao pass out, yao driving will create the real open shots for teammates like every other superstar does.

To be more specific, actually yao always have his drive move--spin to the base line and bypass the defender, which is his signature move. I want yao to add more options to that, such as spin pass defender to the center, same spin on the right block...

He also has a drive after fake shot, which he used successfully in the past(Last year he used that twice in the 37pts effort against the same Orlando Magic&DH). I think he's too afraid of the TO and dare not to use those moves more often.

Of course he's already so good even without the moves, but he just have to use and develop more often. He will need the moves in clutch time and playoffs!

I think Yao is not fast enough if teams realize that Yao is driving on many possessions to go to the basket or to kick out an open teammate i could tell you that his defender will be told to slide on Yao next step and take the charge, which should be quite easy for faster players.

I want to see it. It would be very entertaining.

He would fall a lot. We would set NBA records for turnovers.

Other things I want to see:

We should get Flyin' Ryan back and get him to lead our fast breaks.

We should have Chuck Hayes spot up in the corner for 3

We should send Bonzi to the free throw line for techs

We should match Novak against Kobe

We should extend Rick Adelman's contract

Those aren't drives, they are post moves.

    There you go.

Unless the guy is really stressing that Yao should be a point-center. :D

You are right. Some of them are actually more fluid post moves. The drive after pump fake is the one he had some success before. He can either shoot face up, or if the defender comes close, he can do that more often. Actually wasn't that a part of RA's scheme for center, just like Brad Miller does?

Absolutely. We should run an iso for Yao at the top of the key and let him create.

Brad Miller was a jumpshooter first.

The way I understand it, you want Yao to drive the ball. Then you admit his "drives" are post moves. He already does his post moves. So you want him to keep doing what he has been doing?

I guess we're going to win the championship.

Please tell me this is a joke. There can't be two of you that thinks this is a good idea.

Yao cannot create. That's why he is ineffective when he get's the ball on the post further from the basket. He can hit a jumpshot, but not make a solid "creation" unless he is on one of the blocks or in the paint. He needs to have the creating done for him. Get him the rock under the basket and let him score. I would rather have Rafer driving in with that terrible teardrop than watch Yao's goofy ass try to drive to the bucket.

The only thing that would "create" is turnovers.
