We were in a knife fight with knife fighters and Yao Ming brought his Zelda Wand

We were in a knife fight with knife fighters and Yao Ming put a Ultra-Hot sticker on the back of his beamer

We were in a knife fight with knife fighters and Yao Ming let Boozer taste his crab cake

    Sorry JVG, you tried.

In the history of the game never has there been a coach who put as much effort into trying to cover one of his players many deficiencies than Jeff Van Gundy did for Yao Ming.

Sort of, but Jeff knew that Yao could never adequatly cover the PnR, yet he consistently made him try to do it.

I wish Jeff would have adjusted his schemes just a smidge to accomodate Yao's slowness of foot.

LOL and in other threads you're arguing the exact opposite - that Yao is fast enough to run fast breaks and become a point center.

So Yao is TOO slow to move on defense but WAY FAST enough to do so on offense?

Classic DaDakota - each side of the fence is covered cause the grass is always greener.

I am not going to disagree with that.

As much as I believed in Jeff, his not at least trying Yao on Okur so Hayes our best defender would have a shot at Boozer, left me scratching my head. If Hayes is guarding Boozer down the stretch, he boxes out and gets those rebounds.

Classic Sam making BS up, because he doesn't understand the context of the post.

I never said anything about running fast breaks.....I said Yao can be the trigger or outlet passer, and occasionally the trailer in a secondary break.

Your hatred makes you take massive leaps of faith to make up arguments to make you seem superior....

    Just amazing.....

JVG sticking with Yao on Boozer. JVG just had too much faith in Yao Ming. he believed in his big fella. That was his only fault, I guess I can't fault him too much for that.

I hope I am wrong but I think next year YOF's will grow to apperciate JVG.

Maybe, but it drove me bonkers to hear JVG complain about Yao's PnR defense all year.

He was complaining about it in pre season. Yao is just not ever going to be good at that.....so cover for him with weakside help.....please !!!!

They tried. The help just didn't get there in time. Boozer was a man amongst boys out there. He had it in another gear.

Then go to a different scheme, run some zone, put in Dikembe to bang him.....

Got to try something......well.....should have tried something....

Exactly. Nobody is claiming it would have worked. But, not to try anything different over a seven game series is just freakin stupid. Thats bad coaching.

Again, i don't really disagree with that part of it.

Hayes on Boozer, Yao on Okur , should have been attempted somewhere along the line. But that was his only fault. The stubborn sap, bless his honest straight shooting soul, just believed in Yao Ming too much, to a fault.

The truth hurts doesn't it Sammy? And resorting to name calling when losing yet another argument (sigh).

And how is the High post offense fast breaking again? Mixing up your thoughts are you Sammy?
    This is what you said......
Yes, I think Yao can operate some at the high post...yep yep yep....but that is not playing a faster tempo, nor leading a fast break as a point center.

If that is the best you can do at reading comprehension, you need help.

This could have been done by us having the correct Power Forward to counter balance the play of Boozer.

SO - what you're saying is that the Rockets should play an "up-tempo" attack but Yao will just play at his own slower speed differnt from the rest of the team to save his energy ?

Hey if Chuck Hayes is not the correct PF to help cover for Yao's deficiences on defense, then good luck in your search for finding one.
