Luther Head, Kirk Snyder, our 1st round pick and Rafer Alston. These guys, all have some sort of trade value (the pick not being a man). I don't care what we do or how we do it, but the beauty of everything is that we could get rid of all of that and not lose much. Anyone really buying that crap about Alston "running" the system is on heroin. Francis would be more effective, and James should start. Give the O even more space. Rafer Alston is a low turnover guy because he does not penetrate. I count those jackass floaters as turnovers anyway. The only thing he does well is run the break, but he can't finish and that is not enough of a bonus to justify his existence. Even if we were to just trade Head and our pick to move up (maybe the Lakers pick), do something to consolidate what we do not need. Luther needs to be in a system where he stands and waits. He really travels every time he penetrates and is too much of a specialist. Give his minutes to Francis or james. Or go big time and bring in Mike Bibby. We could offer Alston, Snyder (expiring contract) Head and our first round pick. We need a balanced point guard and a defensive specialist in regards to the speedy players of the world that Shane cannot contain. Obviously I don't like Alston, and yea, I think Steve should get a chance. He has been watching and if he is intelligent, he should see what we need and play accordingly. Our starting lineup is great, but I would like the talent level their upgraded. Hayes, Alston and even Battier are not going to score, and it seems like we have actually been struggling in the 1st quarter. We need more talent in the starting lineup. I love Shane and probably would not trade him but I do wonder, what would Shane + a pick +LH, or Shane +pick+ RA get us?
LOL the Kings are not going to trade away Bibby. They are so weak at Guard right now that they will be looking to aquire guards not get rid of a marquis guard. Beno Udrih is supposed to be starting for them for crying out loud. If thats not hurting I don't know what is. Best you could hope to do is probably a Jose Calderon which isn't bad since he takes care of the rock and dishes it fairly well. He doesn't score a bunch of points but that's still an upgrade over layabrick Alston.
You have to keep in mind that the Kings are rebuilding (whether they admit it or not.) Bibby is expensive... Im not in love with the idea. Im just saying we have assets that we should move to upgrade a position or our pick.
No, I would do McGrady for Bryant but just barely. Tmac definetly does some things that Bryant cannot, and vice versa. I was also thinking about Cassell, I think Alston+Head would get it done.
Calderon would be a good pickup if we could get him. I think he's a restricted free agent this offseason, so maybe the Raptors would trade him. They have Ford and might not be willing to pay what Calderon can get on the open market. Luther would probably work well in Toronto because of his shot.
Those guys to Phoenix for Banks, salary matchers, and the Hawks pick. Gets them out of the Banks deal and gives them a solid backup PG. Head and Snyder would fit in great there and give depth. If the Hawks continue to look strong than maybe we throw in Aaron Brooks who they covet and y'all love and they find a way to include Diaw or Bell. Just having fun by the way...
Luther played poorly the last couple games, but he does offer some value to the current Rox team and his contract is way too cheap compare to such value. He is a bargain.. Rafer was dancing between love and hate. One day you love him and the other day you just want to kick his ass. Due to this inconsistency, I don't mind we trade him if something good comes along. Rafer+Snyder+2nd Round pick should land us a decent PG. I don't recommand using the 1st round pick, because since Morey has been here, I value our 1st round pick much more, because we know he has a very good chance of finding the diamond in the rough.
The thread title looks like a Nigerian phishing email, w/ the commas and all. While it looks like all those guys are tradeable (we'd definitely need a solid ball handler in exchange for Alston), don't forget about injuries. We'll need at least 2 extra people waiting in the wings when the time comes. It will almost certainly happen.
Rockets need to add a Childress or Sefolosha type guard or aiming lower just an effective speed bump against Stackhouse and Josh Howard.
If Steve was intelligent, then he would not have come into camp fat and out of shape. Also, continuing that thought, if he was smart, he would realize that he did come in fat and out of shape, and therefore would have busted his ass in practice and shown some of his trademark resolve. His fighting spirit has yet to be seen. All we have seen is him getting repeatedly BUSTED by Kyle Lowry in a preseason game, and all of this "wait and see" crap in the media. Rafer, on the other hand, came in to camp in the best shape of his career, and was rewarded for it. Luther, I believe, is one of our best cutters. If you watched him at all at Illinois, he played very well off of the ball, including working free off of screens and a good amount of backdoor cuts. I also see him as an underrated finisher around the rim. As far as Alston running the offense, I must be on heroin. And it must be the same heroin the coaching staff is on.
I definitely agree with what hooroo said: "Rockets need to add a Childress or Sefolosha type guard or aiming lower just an effective speed bump against Stackhouse and Josh Howard." We definitely lack a quick and bigger 2 guard who can score and defend. Bonzi and Battier are good but they're not quick enough. I think a taller, quick and cutting guard (Rip Hamilton or Kevin Martin type of player) would definitely complement Alston if we're not going to trade him. I prefer TMAC to be at the SF position..
I think Rip Hamilton or Kevin Martin would be great as well. Now, how the hell do you expect us to acquire them?
If somebody wanted Kirk Snyder, Head and Rafer, then they would have been traded before the season to open up space on the roster.
