HEY . . i like The Practice one of the best shows on sunday nite . .. oh . .er. . . you mean like practice. . . Rocket River
I like Iverson, but this time he just doesn't get it. It's your job to be at practice, Allen! I tell you what, if my boss ever lectures me about coming to work late, I'll just say, "Man, we talkin' about bein' on time. WHAT ABOUT THE REPORTS, THE PRESENTATION!!! Bein' on time?! Bein' on time?! WE TALIKN' 'BOUT BEIN' ON TIME?!"
All that being said, He always called in and reported that his son was sick. The media is making it out like he skipped practice without a good reason. But did he? They called his excuse of staying home with a sick son as lame. I don't think that's lame. Even if he missed a few practices for no good reason, I know I've missed a few days or work just to get away, si I don't see what the big deal is. I wonder how many times he's put in some overtime...
Hell out of 100 or so practices. . say he missed 10 I mean how many times have you missed work with poorer excuses? Rocket River
It's not work. It's a game that these morons are able to play because of their God given abillity. Now go outside and play!
Please! they pay him millions of dollars so he can afford a damn nanny or a doctor if his son is sick. Its not like practice lasts 8 straight hours like your work. Practice doesn't last more than a couple of hours. And which job did you hold where you only worked from the October to May? June, July, August and most of May off. Why the hell does he need a few extra days in the regular season.
Practice on a professional level has GOTSTA be intense because people get sick . .they get tired Hell teachers take days off they get summers off . . . you b**** about that If a teacher misses an inservice or some PTA meeting? I think people being unrealistic ok . .they make alot of money . . but hell If Keanu Reeves misses a day of a shoot of the matrix or a practice run .. . would u be up and down his throat? and they work at most 3 months Rocket River
If he had good reasons to miss practice then that's fine, but it is really immaterial. His attitude in the press conference clearly indicated that he doesn't care about practice and doesn't think it is important. Does it really matter how many practices he missed or if he had excuses for missing the practices? There's really no defending Iverson in this matter.
There's a difference between missing work and telling your boss that the work you are doing is worthless and unimportant. That's essentially what Iverson did during the press conference. That's the heart of the matter.
That is a bit harsh . . . . He maybe a little raw but Tyson is frickin insane he is basketball's . . .uhm . . . .Bobby Knight Rocket River
Honestly, do you think a few extra practices are going to signifigantly improve his game? He's Allen Iverson, for cripes sake. Not that he should be exempt, but missing a practice once in a while is not a big deal.
Fadeaway, It is about being held accountable. If he is going to be a leader, and the team is designed around him being there, then he needs to be at practice in order for the whole thing to work. Iverson needs to grow up, he is just a punk. DaDakota
Sometimes the leader needs to step aside in order for the team to grow and learn. Hakeem did this accidentally when he was down and out. He watched as the team learned how to win without him for long stretches and then subsequently the titles followed. Vince Carter just got a glimpse of the same thing. It's often a breath of fresh air when the leader doesn't show up. You can take it both ways. It really depends on the team. Sometimes leading is knowing when not be the focus of the team. Francis was taught from day one how to step aside... let's just hope he knows when to step it up too.
