With all these talk about trading EG DO YOU GUYS THINK WE SHOULD HAVE KEPT RJ INSTEAD? I think we would have been a better team with RJ .. HE seems more INTENSE and we dont have players of his style who cuts and drives to the basket with a good shooting touch too. but then MO would have been our PF ?????

rj = shandn andersn w/more athleticism

you seem to be underestimating the greatness of jason kidd. in fact, i'd be more than glad to place a friendly $20 cc.net tip jar bet that rj's #s go down next year if jason kidd leaves...specifically his field goal percentage. you game?

RJ has a jump shot?

Guys like Stockton and Kidd can make Shandon, Byron, RJ and Kenyon seem like all stars. All they have to do is run and the great pg's like Kidd and Stockton will find em.

    Richard who?

Oh, you mean that guy who showed up for 1 game in the finals ;)

During the finals, I decided I dislike him. He was on that "hot seat" interview before game 4 (I think it was game 4). They asked him something like, "If it weren't for a draft-day trade, you'd be playing with Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets right now ..."

Richard whats-his-name responded, "Thaaaaaaaaank Go.....er, I mean, they have a great thing going on over there, but the New Jersey fans have been really supportive of me since day one."

You're right RJ is a good player. However, what will happen to him when Kidd leaves? The trade happened for a reason. At the time we already had a 2 and we were only being puppets and drafting what New Jersey wanted. This was definately premeditated as The Rox could have settled their debt with Memphis by giving them one of our 3 picks. That was their biggest mistake because we just could've had a shot at nabbing Chris Thomas this year...probably the best pass first point guards in the draft. RJ has trouble creating his own at times...something he will improve upon as time without Kidd moves forward.

Don't we have a guy named James Posey who does just about the exact same thing RJ does? i mean, he runs the floor, gets at least 1 amazing ally-oop per game, and hits the occasional jump shot. Hell, i bet Posey could beat RJ in a footrace.

Wait. forget everything i just said. Posey never does windmill dunks.

    Here we go again?

If we had kept Jefferson, we wouldn't have been able to get Yao and Boki.

I'd rather have a player who has emense potential in EG, Yao Ming, and Bokie; than a player who is hyped up because he is paired with one of the best PG's to every play the game.

Take away Kidd, which might actually happen, and Jefferson, like everyone said, is but a Shandon Anderson clone with better hops.

More importantly, Posey would blow him out in a 3 point shooting contest.

    Jefferson=Product of Jason Kidd.

PS- Check out J-Po's production over the last 2 months...

    24 games, 30.1 MPG, 11.5 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.9 steals, 50.3% FG%, 39.1% 3P%, 86.7% FT%

If you just look at the last 8 games (month of April), it's even better all around.

    Very nice...

Jefferson only looks good because of Byron Scott's system.

i guess you're not feeling all that lucky after all, huh?

that, or you're not so sure about your viewpoint. that's cool. sometimes we all speak (or in this case, type) without thinking first.

like damn near everyone else on here has posted, RJ is a product of jason kidd's brilliance. you see what happened to RJ when kidd wasn't setting him up didn't you? he got shut down. this is mainly because 1) his jumper is suspect 2) his ball handling is suspect; and because of #s 1 & 2... 3) he cannot create his own shot. now, i'll give him credit for having amazing athleticism. his putback dunks are cool. his rebounding is cool, too. but i'd take eddie griffin's upside over richard jefferson's, thank you very much.

ask yourself this...how good would a cutting, shotblocking, rebounding eddie griffin look alongside jason kidd? all of a sudden, he's not chucking up as many 3s. all of a sudden, he's getting easy baskets. all of a sudden, he's shooting near 50%. all of a sudden, he's getting all the hype that RJ has gotten. but, you see, LuckyAzn, i don't let the hype machine bother me. it doesn't fool me one bit.

check out RJ next season. you'll see the hype machine become broken, just like RJ's jumper...

I was infamous for posting these type of threads, though at this point, why look back?

I understand your point (I agree, EJ definitely was not worth the three picks which were traded for his rights) but forgetaboutit.

    Over, done, and move on!

    Lastly, lock this thread, please!
