I hate to say it. The rocket's are lookinig for trades and the only way we get anywhere is if we seek a diva. what happened to the good old days when Les would pick up 3 of the 50's. We're close but we haven't quite got there. last year it was anderson and swift which made us feel good but not not truly secure. they were high risk gambles in which we lost. the rocket's management learned their lesson somewhat( not giving james a trade kicker) which I applaud but that doesn't make us better ( which james would have done) There seems to be nobody even rumored on the block headed the rocket's way. I truly don't think that they can make make the nic-nac moves of 04-05 that added up to something special( james, barry, wesley, signing of sura.) Clutchfans always has the inside scoop that at least excites us into believing some form of help is on the way. I don't feel good about this offseason. Players that put teams over the top don't get traded out of nowhere, there is usually foreshadowing. I know CD says wait and see but I truly think his options are limited. there is only one player whose being a true diva right now. that's swift. been there. done that. i think the rocket's are need to take some risks. If I would have suggested surrounding this team with Jason w, Walker, and ZO I would have been bashed by everybody. ( deservedly so). I'm soory this might be an unnecessary post which all of us already know just too optimistic to say. we need somebody whose a diva to start crap with his team and bring him in. perfect example would be Iverson. He's not a perfect example by means of what we need but a perfcet example of getting a 3rd superstar the way we did in the old days. Who truly foresaw the net's getting Carter just a couple season's removed from back to back title appearance's. Again I'm drunk, sorry if this post is pointless but i think there is more optimism on this board then their needs to be. Maybe before draft night we were a 5th seed. now we're a 3rd. that's still not gonna cut. remember the heartbreaking dallas series. their payroll was higher and they've gotten better, why can't we stay competitive. I hate forcing the issue but I also hate LOSING. i know this thread might be redundant and pointless but i'm drunk and need to vent. thank you to anybody who read the whole post
I'm drunk AND on mushrooms, and I see your point. NBA careers that could do with a bit of the old resurrecting: * Kevin Garnett * Steve Francis * Stephon Marb-- [Must... resist... urge...] * Penny Hardaway * Qyntel Woods [Uh-oh, I think the 'shrooms are kicking in!] * Nicoldwf Skitisvilwoiuoe * Malick Badiane [Ill-Skillz, that's your cue] * Matt Maloney * Calvin Murphy * Rudy Tomjanovich That's a starting point, at least. P.S. Okay, I'm not really on mushrooms. But I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.
Behold, the epitome of a true fan. I feel your pain. We have very little trade assets and as of now it doesn't look like we can get any additonal significant help. But the offseasons still young. Believe!
dude...i hate to say this but I think our off season is done. We're just gonna move the guys we got into practice and just whip them into shape. no diva for us.
Kids, don't drink in the middle of the week and if you must, then make damn sure you don't post threads on messageboards that will inevitabably regret. With mustard, I wanted to read the whole post, I REALLY did. But it was just too darn big a paragraph.
We might need to resurrect the use of paragraphs first. As for careers, Kirk Snyder is the resurrection candidate.
Here some hope for you: Not one of the trades you mentioned above were rumored in advance. This season, the Snyder trade had no prior rumors either. IIRC, very few people here predicted Shane Battier. The Derek Anderson and Scott Padget free-agent pickups came near the end of the summer with no advance warning. Often just before training camp there is another round of player movement ...there is still some hope.
I actually found that this is one of the more worthwhile posts in some time. I couldn't agree about us needing a proven veteran that needs a new start. Personally I don't think that there's a better example than Steve Francis, but I have to admit that I'd definitely be scared of that salary. Having said that, I strongly believe that he can be had for next to nothing, and would be really excited to be back in Houston. I really believe that Shareef Abdur-Rahim would be another good player to try to acquire, as would Rashard Lewis as someone else stated earlier, and even a player like Brian Grant may provide energy off of the bench and provide relief as Mutumbo did a couple of years ago. The problem with a couple of years ago, is that there were far too many guys who were older on the team, so it came apart, as we all know. Good post mustard, I read the whole post.
If I had to take my chances on someone I would go with Penny, he could come very cheap and if anything he could be the Darrell Armstrong for our team. A motivator, and experienced veteran and maybe even a vocal leader.
was watching penny hardaway on 96 team usa on nbatv. man I wish that guy wouldn't have gotten injured. a truly fun player to watch.
I am drunk, on LSD, a few hits of crack, and a I got into a sour mash still with the monkeys a few minutes ago. But seriously, besides that fact that Someone is misspelled and the lack of formatting, I think there is a serious point to this thread, which I have been advocating for awhile. If we acquire a talented, proven player (IE one in the top 4-5 of our rotation) it will not be a cost effective move for us, and we will have to give up something, (Head, draft pick) I hope we are not done, because we wont contend. We have a lot of guards, but not a lot of talent there. We have a great front court, but still need rebounds/blocks/interior d.
somewone??? i know what you mean. i know its hard for some ppl to spell, but have you ever read a book god damn!
