I know we can play better than this. We have to play better than this. I want to see the same Rockets that beat Phoenix to win home court advantage ... the same Rockets that crushed the 76ers by 50 points.

When I think back about our win over Phoenix for HCA and the 50 point blowout of the 76ers, that is the Rocket's potential. They have to play like that game in and game out.

Against Phoenix, I had no problems with our defense. We forced them to shoot the ball outside the paint, but Phoenix went nuts and sank basket after basket, shooting 57.3% from the field, and 44.4% from the 3 point line. How did we beat Phoenix? We shot 48.4% from the field, and 47.8% from the 3 point line, along with outrebounding them by 15.

Against the 76ers, we were simply firing on all cylinders, offense and defense, and Tracy and Yao sat out the 4th quarter.

To be fair, we are playing against a team that lost its form near the end of the season and went on a 5 game losing streak, where their highest paid player (AK) is being benched and playing poorly, where their all star (Okur) is playing bad offensively. We can't expect to play offensively poorly like tonight and proceed further into the playoffs. For that matter, we can't expect to play like we did tonight, and win in Utah.

We need to step up our game back to the level when we beat Phoenix and the 76ers.

It's not negative at all. I'm saying our potential is much more than we showed in games 1 and 2.

    I believe.

well utah closes out faster on the 3pt shoots than Suns. I think we're playing okay, but certainly Luther and the rest of the bench has to give them something. Just give them somthing. Luther right now is being too hesitant and i think it's hurting his confidence. A shooter without confidence might as well be Bowen or AK.

A win is always good but need to point out few flaws. Shot selection wasnt the best for rockets and they are not falling too. Rebounding is much better than 1st game. Limiting foul is good but yao with 3 fouls in 1st half isn't positive anytime. However, the energy is there and the willingness to close out games is great hope those attitude can be kept up

i dont think its a negative thread at all, those were my exact feelings after the game tonight. We have to break out of our shooting slump and start getting into an offensive rhythm...even though tmac scored 30 plus, he shot 9-29!! thats less than 33%...if we play like the first two games, i dont think we will be able to win in Utah.

    100% agreed
Yeah we won this game because of our Home court advantage.
Tmac and Yao are terrible tonight. Tmac is lost in offence, Yao can't stop Boozer, Our bench are totally outscored by how much? 30points?

If there is one good thing about heating up so late is that we preserve lots energy, just the opposite 2 years ago, when we use all the energy to beat mavs in the first 2 games.

Okay...so you want Rockets to become a high scoring team is basically what you're saying.

Hello????????? Do you not know we are playing the UTAH JAZZ?? Its not going to be a high scoring series. Maybe if we meet the Suns in the WCF (knock on wood, salt over shoulders) then we can see slightly better offense.

we need to drive in more. we need to have better shot selection. and we need to go into yao more and yao needs to be in deeper.

we aren't playing as well as it seems. jazz simply dont have that much talent so we might be able to get away with it. but we need to go deep into the playoffs. and we need to play better than this.

And despite our crappy FG% and whatnot, we still managed to get 98 points in the end..because we got lots of offensive rebounds and got to the FT line a lot. So quit your yapping because we're finding other ways to win. And that's what a true contending team does, find other ways to win.

T-mac & Yao wasn't terrible, they were decent!!! Some of you really aren't giving utah enought credit. Utah is a good team , don't expect Rox to simply roll over them like estern scrub.

Yeah, an ugly win. But lets turn to the positive.
This game proves that we have the potential to go all the way b/c despite a poor game offensively we were still able to beat the Jazz fairly easily and score 98 points. So let the wheels start turning......

Once our 3-pointers start going in, things will look pretty.

If the Rockets don't elevate their game, there's no doubt they'll come back to Houston with the series tied at 2-2.

i know for a FACT that the jazz will elevate their game. magic knows it, kenny knows it, and barkley knows it. thats why none of them hopped on the rockets wagon after tonight's win. they know utah is capable of beating us. utah also thinks their capable of beating us. they're a different team at home, and they won't miss their open shots like today. i think they shot 45% and we only shot 36%. obviously they are the better offensively balanced team but fortunately we managed to win. all i know is we need a 3rd scorer. our bench is being exposed and noone else knows how to put the ball in the hoop besides yao and t-mac.

yeah, because the trio of magic, kenny, and barkley are the all knowing three wise men.

just kidding. the jazz will probably step it up a bit, try to get more balanced scoring, but if Rockets themselves make their threes, then watch out..
