Ok. so rudy wants to delevelope Thomas for our starter right? PLEASE! He was a horrible starter for us last year. he is not a good scorer. and he CAN'T shoot the 3. He is a good rebounder but its not like he can bang the boards with Webber or Duncan (although he did have a good game against duncan). If hes our starter at PF this year we will not make it to the playoffs. he is a backup PF period despite his impressive 22 pt game against the suns. I'm praying if he does come back as our starting PF he'll develope a outside shot like webbers even then i don't know. Massenburg? well he was injuried all year last year and even if he does come back healthy hes only a GOOD backup PF NOT a starter. Im not a college guy but from what i hear Collier and Langhi arn't the answers either. Bottom Line if we get a STARTING PF that score and rebound (ie. Brain Grant) we could easily make the playoffs and maybe a small contender. If get a Elite PF (ie. webber) we will automatically be BIG contenders. Our C position looks a little better because of cato (i still think he can develope into a good starting C if he can't were screwed there for this year to) SG we got shadon SF we got walt williams PG the FRANCHISE. forget mobley we need a PF!!!!

As bizzare as it may sound to most of us, Kenny's an average rebounder based on per-minute rebounding among PF's. He's comparable to Keith Van Horn in that respect (had to throw that in there since everybody says KVH is a wuss ). He's a horrific 3pt. shooter to boot. But then, maybe Rudy's not expecting too much offense out of him. Maybe he's expecting him to bang around with the better PF's in the league down low instead of focusing on scoring. Either way, we need to get more consistent scoring out of our front line. Whether that'll come from the SF, PF, C, or a combination of them is unknown at this point. ------------------ Just shut up and post
With more practice time this offseason Kenny can be a consistent 12/10 player. KT won't become an all star and be an unstoppable force in the paint but he will do a decent job. Kenny has showed the potential to be a down low banger and a somewhat outside shooter. Plus when Los is healthy he can contribute too. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS [This message has been edited by DEANBCURTIS (edited July 16, 2000).] [This message has been edited by DEANBCURTIS (edited July 16, 2000).]
i will remember all the KT bashers, so when the band wagon starts a rolling, i can remember who will be driving................ ------------------ GOT MILF!!! :O)
KT wasn't suppose to be a starter for Houston last year, CB was suppose to start and then T Mass,KT was at least third choice for Rudy but injuries KILLED us For somebody that wasn't going to start for at least 2 or 3 years later he did very well! He will get better each year for at least the next two years. I bet Rudy would give anything not to had to use KT as a starter last year, but it seems like the other teams did not want to trade us a quality PF because we did not have anything to trade for one that anybody wanted or we could afford to give up. ------------------ One minute ago you had 60 seconds longer to live then you have now. Did you enjoy the 60 seconds you just had?
And if KT becomes anything special, I won't back down that I constantly bash him. KT WILL NEVER AVERAGE 10 REBOUNDS A GAME. Less than 10 people in the NBA averaged 10 rebounds per game last year. He's an average rebounder, 8 would be PLENTY from him, 9 is stretching it. 10 is not possible. *The preceding has been a preaching on why Kenny Thomas should be benched or traded, carry on.* ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. All right, you guys want defense. Here's what we do, we put Dream,Collier, & Cato in at the same time & have them stand shoulder to shoulder around the basket. All they have to do is keep their arms up & swat shots all day. We'll call that defense "THE WALL". Even when the opposition shoots from outside, they won't be able to see the basket because of all the arms. When the other team shoots the ball "THE WALL" will turn & face the basket & trap all the balls that they miss, then turn around & lob the ball deep to one of our streaking guards on the other end of the floor for a slam dunk. Defense creates offense. Our guards will have to look for opportunities to steal the ball. When they get a steal, they take off up the floor for a break away with "THE WALL" following close behind to pick up any missed shots, which won't be many, because our guards are going to hit everything they shoot. And then, I woke up from this really bizarre dream. Let's hear it for "THE WALL". ------------------

he is not a good scorer. <hr> Are you kidding me? Kenny Thomas is a killer scorer! But on the real, Kenny aint that bad on offense. I remember Andy Katz of ESPN said something along the lines of "The Rockets found themselves a GEM OF A SCORER in Kenny Thomas..." Kenny has shown he has tremendous footwork, and if he can SOMETIMEs hit the 3 point shot, that means he can definately hit the mid range jumper. Kenny also has a nice hook shot with BOTH hands, and plenty of spin moves and everything. He will be a good scorer, if he gets the ball. ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club
Dean will always be pro-KT. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS
Untrue. The mid range jumpshot is now a lost art. For example, Bryce Drew and Rudy had a shooting contest. Drew asked if there were 3 pointers (behind the arc), Rudy said no. Rudy went on to win. Most players today can't shoot as well from midrange, as they can from the 3 point arc (granted, you can't be much worse of a 3 point shooter than KT, so he may show improvement over there). ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
Forget about bashing Kenny's 3 point shooting, when do we get to start the bashing on his OVERALL FG%??? ------------------
That's true NIke. Maybe my statement wasnt that logical, but the reason I said it was becuz I've seen Kenny shoot the midrange jumper pretty well, but he dont shoot it enuff. In fact he barely shoots it at all, but the few times that I've seen him, he makes it or it barely rolls out. IN short, it aint that bad. ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club
Is Kenny Thomas the Rockets long-term starter at power forward? I don't think so. Does that mean he isn't valuable to this team? Not at all. I think Kenny will be a good player in this league. But I also think the Rockets will need to address the power forward position in the near future. Having said that, I think we need to understand this: WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PICK UP OUR POWER FORWARD OF THE FUTURE THIS YEAR. Until we can, I think we could do worse than Kenny Thomas, Jason Collier, and Carlos Rogers. All three of them are capable of adding something positive to this team. ------------------
Nikestrad: I agree that the mid-range jumper is NEARLY a lost art... but would you agree that the mid-range jumper is the reason Indy was in the finals last year? It seems that with Indy last year that Miller, Smits, Rose, and Croshere could ALL hit that freaking shot. I think that's why an ordinarily wonderful defensive team (Lakers) had so much trouble guarding them. It wasn't just a 3 or the paint... Indy's players could hit from anywhere. PS May I add that's another reason why I want Austin Croshere? PPS I would insert here that Kenny Thomas really impressed me at times with his footwork. My roommate, who has NO INTEREST IN THE ROCKETS, and can therefore be deemed and OBJECTIVE observer was watching a game with me, and said something to the effect of "holy crap, who the heck is that? I've never heard of that rookie," following a KT spin to the basket lay-up. ppps My roommate really did use those euphemisms. Hey guys, Last year was KT's first year. You might consider that his initiation to the NBA. This year, he should have a better idea of what to expect & what he needs to do to improve. Also, the coaches now have a better idea of how his game will fit this team & what they need to do to help him. Not every player is going to hit the ground running his first year. He'll be better this year. I wonder if any of you saw what I believe to be glimpses of Barkley in his game. First, neither one should be shooting 3's, but they did it anyway. Second, KT showed glimpses of his rebounding ability, like Barkley. And third, he showed some ability to go strong to the hole like Barkley. If he could develop a game similar to Barkley, (without the big butt backing in part) then he's got a great upside & he's taller than Barkley. The only question is the size of his heart & level of committment to improving his game on his own. The coaches can only do so much & the rest is up to the player. After all, it's the player that makes those multi-million dollar contracts. Having said all of this, I still would like to see the Rockets pick up Croshere. Rocketsauce, Don't we have any pull on this team to change the rules to fit our needs? After all, aren't we the darlings of spurts ILLustrated & the New York media? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Hottoddie (edited July 17, 2000).]
KT would be great off the bench! I just don't see him as a starter.. he's very impressive in the fact that he has a soft touch with either hand and the fact that he can finish strongly, the only negative is that he's a tad short and unfortunately he'll never be the defensive presence we need. But I'm all for throwing him in as our 6th or 7th (depending on Mobley) man and letting him take advantage of a bit of offensive freedom. Let him bring some intensity into the game from the bench!! Then throw in Collier at center to hit some MID RANGE JUMPERS and it'd be all happening! ------------------
"Kenny has shown he has tremendous footwork..." I always laugh when someone describes Thomas as having great footwork. The guy can't touch the ball in the post without traveling. That whirly, twirly, helicopter spin move is not going to work when there's adequate weak-side defense.
