1) Twin Tower 2) constantly iso with no other floor plans 3) Heavy minutes on injured player 4) No playmakers on the floor in the beginning of 4th quarter 5) Lack of adjustment to the line up when our score starts to behind. 6) Lack of players in rotation In preseason, Coaching seems to be great but was gone after the season start.
McHale is probably the worst in-game coach, substitutions, tactics and adjustments I've seen for a long time. Hearsay says he is a good developmental coach. Wish we could swap him for Brett Brown from the 76ers. These two coaches are on a different level to McHale and available: Lionel Hollins George Karl
I give McHale the benefit of the doubt. The TT has mostly been established to make Asik happy. And we do need Asik. We'll probably abandon the TT when we are losing a lot and then McHale or Asik has no other option but to make Asik come for the bench. I want to see DMo or T-Jones at the 4 not Casspi, though he is playing very good at the 4. My lineup would be: Bev-Lin (tie. Both can start or come off the bench) Harden/Garcia Parsons/Casspi T-Jones-DMo (also a tie) Howard/Asik
I don't think McHale is a bad coach, but his merit system is stupid. Anyone with any sense would bench Asik. Either start Terrance Jones as the four, or go with a small lineup and slide Parsons to the four with either Lin or Garcia in the starting lineup.
Jerry Sloan might be able to take this group to the Finals this year. It's risky tho, he's tough on the players.
We need a guy to tell McHale what is not working and force him to change it, IMO. Or for McHale to become smarter - I just don't think he is all that good at relating concepts to players. DD
