we are all flash and no substance. I don't think i am overstepping any bounds with this comment. I think Rudy T agrees with me. If we don't decide to get down and dirty and lock up on opposing players we are doomed to 8th seed dome. Lets be real about the season guys AND gals.

Although I think KMart is more of a hot-head than a tough guy I agree that Houston needs to get tougher. I don't really know who we could get at this point though.

i think Cato and Thomas know how to get chippy and that is why i kept mentioning mickeal. we have offense out the ying yang. we need some sassyness on the defensive end of the floor.

The Dallas Mavericks are clearly better than a #8 seed - care to tell me who their K-Mart is? And please don't try to pass off Najera as a Kenyon Martin. There's a major difference between hustle and muscle.

We aren't the Dallas Mavericks are we? They are a perfect example that Offense only will get you only so far. They aren't winning any titles.

I agree defense wins championships but how many Kmarts are there in this league.

Lakers - Horry is the closest
    Spurs - nope
Kings - nope unless you count Pollard
    Dallas - definitely not
    Celtics - nope
    Wolves - nope

all are teams that I think are better than the Nets.

Is the 8th seed dome anything like the Thunderdome or the Astrodome? I'd prefer if they played in the Thunderdome.

well, forgive me for living in reality an you guys are suffering from Pre-season hopeitis. This is about winning not how good your favorite player did in a fantasy league which is what this board seems to be living in.:p

    We also need:
Shaq, Dirk, Kobe, McGrady, & Weber.

To get a little depth, we could also use:
Pierce, Ray Allen, Nash, Kidd, & Duncan.

Then  !!!! We would be a contender:D

i agree, that cato can be our tough guy. he has a mean streak...remember when sabonis pump-faked, got cato in the air, whent for the shot, but cato came down with some kind of WWF two handed hammer. i was shocked that he didnt get a 'T'.

There's a difference between being tough and being a cheap shot artist punk. Martin is the latter.

WE NEED RON ARTEST. LETS TRADE KENNY THOMAS, MOOCHIE NORRIS AND JASON COLLIER FOR ARTEST AND JEFF FOSTER. THAT TRADE ADDRESSES THE WEAKNESSES IN BOTH TEAMS.

ARTEST PROVIDES THE TOUGHNESS WE NEED.

    S. FRANCIS
    C. MOBLEY
    R. ARTEST
    E. GRIFFIN
    Y. MING
    -------------
    TITO MADDOX
    G. RICE
    T. MORRIS
    M. TAYLOR
    K. CATO

BUBS has a good point. We need toughness on the Rocks. I don't like Martin myself, but he's using him as an example. It's been talked about often enough here before... why slam the guy for saying we shouldn't be giddy about the team as it is now because we lack the Max, Otis, Horry, ET, Dream, Mr Mean, and Calvin Murphy types we've had in the past. (I know I left out a lot of others, but you get the idea)

K9 is the only guy off the top of my head that is truly tough, old-style tough, on the team at the moment. Cato?? He could be, should be, and is on a sporadic basis. But he hasn't showed up night in and night out. On anything. We have a LOT of young players. Some of them may step up and develop that hard-nosed attitude like Kenny has. I hope so. We need it. We can and should be more than Dallas.

when did winning a championship require having a "tough guy"? i'm more interested in players who hustle and work their butt off to try and win games. in that sense we have our share.

kt, mobley, steve - these guys are as much hustle, "old school", "leave it all on the floor" players as we've had.

kenyon martin is a thug. there's a difference. he can barely outrebound mo taylor and certainly not per-minute a hustling kt. so what exactly is his use, punching people?

Jerome Williams would solve all our toughness problems, and would be the perfect compliment to Griffin & Taylor. I would trade KT straight up for Jerome in a second.

We don't HAVE to have a tough guy, but Mickeal seems to pretty a good fit. It doesn't look like he'll be staying though considering 0 Minutes...

Martin is a tough guy, the shots were cheap but he's still nasty. After Shaq, who would you want to get out of the way from on the break?
