I have great respect for Van Gundy- absolutely no doubt about that. His success will depend on Execution. I fully appreciate that the odds are slightly in your favor ( if you consider a large enough sample) that it is easier to stop some one from scoring than to score yourself! I am frustrated that we are too rigid- even when the basic composition of the team Changed - First No T-Mac, then No YAo- then we still are in search of our PF play. It may sound corny- but I think like in football we need to have an OFFENSIVE CO-ordinator and a Defensive Co-ordinator. I would prefer the Coach to change with the composition of the team rather the team fitting the rigid coaching style. I know Stro has been bashed around a lot- let us get this straight, We did not hire him because he was a Rhodes Scholar, he is an athletic freak, and sadly we dont seem to use that part too much. A Good Point guard can get atleast 5 Dunks for Stro Per game. The rest of the game all he is required to do is take the fouls for Yao. Juwan and Sura- I respect them as individuals- but they will precisely be the reason ( financially speaking) why we may have to kiss good bye to our Title Dreams. We have a 2 year window with Yao and TMac, if we dont get into the Title Chase, we are SOL! Les Alexander loosen up the wallet- get Rashard and TJ Ford, the luxurytax you will pay is a pittance compared to what we can do. Let us add some Local talent and you will see your gate receipts soar!
1 What makes you think a good PG can get Stro 5 dunks a game? Is it possible Stro's shortcomings during 5 1/2 years in the NBA are Stro's fault and not someone else's? It is utterly amazing how people here make excuses for him and default the blame to JVG. Unbelievable!! When Stro shows up to play every game he'll get a dunk or two. Stro's problems are due to his lackluster effort, his lack of skills and his lack of basketball smarts. We've seen sparks of effort recently and his fouls have gone way down the last 5 games. Maybe a trend is starting. 2 Sura's contract ($3.5MM/yr) has nothing to do with us not getting players. JH came with Tracy, understand? No JH, no Tracy; simple as that. You realize last year, because of NBA salary rules, we only had the MLE to play with unless another team helped us with a trade. We blew the MLE on Stro and Portland wouldn't help us get DS. It isn't just a matter of loosening up Les' wallet. My guess is he would take a luxury tax hit but only if a deal was compelling enough. It's doubtful TJ Ford will be available. Last time I checked the Bucks liked him. Rashard? I don't like him as much as some people here. He's signed thru 08/09. What could we give Seattle? Can't we lose a game without a lot of moaning and groaning? Just once can we avoid these major mood swings between each win and loss? The Cavs win was good, but they were missing a key player. The Raptors loss was bad but they are a hot team, we were on a back to back, Rafer was due for a letdown game after his injury and JH did something really really stupid. Let's not read too much into this loss just yet.
You're either a 'time keeps on slippin splippin into the future' dude right now or a 'time is on our side' dude. I'm still a time is on our side dude and say we just need a little patience.. just a little more patience.
I agree. I think Jho and Sura are what we need with a healthy Yao, and T-Mac to make the run. Alston looks alot more at peace out there at PG than Wesley, But NO ONE puts in the hussell that Sura does when hes out there.
It won't happen. Van Gundy needs to be fired. Howard is useless. Swift is a moron. There are huge problems with this team that demand new coach and gm. Nothing will really improve until the Van Gundy regime is dead and a wooden stake is driven into its evil undead heart. Your love for the team should make you light a torch and grab your pitchfork. Don't bond with the monster.
I don't agree with you on JVG, yet. JH clearly isn't "useless". Swift is barely salvageable but there is a slim chance he could be useful this season. I think your strong passion against JVG is unfounded.
i think rashard is a possibility, but TJ is going to be hard to get. the bucks REALLY like ford and will want a lot in return for him, and you can't blame them. he's a terrific young, pure point who is a leader. i would LOVE to see TJ playing for the rockets, but i don't see it happening. we'd have to give up a couple of starters and a first round pick to get him.
Good observation. For my part, I'm not so sure the window of opportunity is that many years long, mainly because T-Mac and Yao are already there and T-mac is developing signs of chronic back problems. Not to mention that there are some really good players and other teams out there (leBron, Amare). So far, we haven't made it out of the first round of the playoffs, so I think its imperative that happens this year. If we're talking championship, we still have a ways to go.
