This was one of the things that made CP3 so valuable. When the layups are taken away and the threes aren't falling, he's the only who could consistently hit the midrange shot. The rest of the team has to work on that in the offseason so that weren't so limited option wise in offense.
This team is too small to not utilize the midrange... GSW were always towards the top of the league for the amount of midrange jumpers they took.
Green, KPJ and Christopher all seem like they can have really good mid range in-between game. It definitely needs to be part of the offense going forward. Obviously you are always going to prefer 3s to something like long twos but often the best shot is the shot the defense gives you.
Aldridge and Durant hit 55%. I would say 55% should be the standard for mid-range shots before the last 6 seconds in the shot clock. 40% is about average eyeballing it from team stats.
Hmmm. If only we could draft a guy who would immediately help in that department? What unlocked Jalen Greens game?? Oh yea the middy!!
Topping the list in both mid-range field goals made (4.0 per game) and attempted (8.3 per game) is Chicago’s DeMar DeRozan, who has been one of the most prolific mid-range shooters in the league for years. https://www.nba.com/news/derozan-durant-lead-top-10-mid-range-scorers Only 5 people in the League average above 50% Derozan is at 48 (according to the article above) (from Dec) I wonder what the Rocket's Player's percentages are I don't mind the midrange game. I encourage it but I don't think everyone on the team should have that green light. ESP ON LONG 2's QUESTION: Where in the MidRange ? Cause Honestly 20 Ft shots. . . nah . . .14 ft ok give it a go Rocket River
These are the final numbers for the season : https://go.nba.com/lcdza I filtered on players who took at least 160 mid-range FGA's during the season. Change it to whatever you want. (lol @ Julius Randle) It's interesting to see a lot of these dudes' corner-3 shooting percentages in comparison. Also, it's amazing how this thread got no responses when it was originally posted 4 years ago. lol. Since you also asked, here are the Rockets' numbers : https://go.nba.com/d0ai9 (MOAR SHROODER!)
It's almost like we need better players, huh? lol We're actually the worst-shooting mid-range team in the NBA and it ain't very close. And that's saying something, since there aren't very many "good" shooting mid-range teams in the NBA.
Are we talking about anywhere midrange or long midrange? Elite is 50% or higher. Great is ~45%. Then you have everyone else who really shouldn't be shooting from there.
I wonder what Green's midrange % was after the all-star break when he decided he was done building houses. Memory recalls him being money from that range, but memory is also increasingly unreliable as I get older.
